Solo Around the World record François Gabart FRA Day 36
Luck with the weather situation for François Gabart FRA with his Maxi Trimaran as leaving the well-established southern trade winds, he crossed the Equator and the innertropical convergence with almost no speed loss yesterday with 630nm in 24h and an average speed of 26,3kn ! With 35 day and 1 hour, he established a new solo record at the Equator, only 20 hours more as the record for teams established by Francis Joyon FRA ! The fast ride should persist during the coming 2 days and it remains to be seen, whether he can connect to the Westwind zone around the Acores without slowdown.
