Olympic Classes World Championships 2018 Aarhus DEN Day 2 the Swiss
Mixed results for the Swiss Team on the second day of the Joint Olympic Classes Worlds on Aahus Bay. For the first time, the Lasers started their Championship.
Maud Jayet SUI, day ranks 11 and 16, occupy the good 11th overall place in the Lasers Radial and are on a solid position for the Olympic nations' qualification.
In the Lasers Standard - the largest fleet in Aarhus with 142 starters - is Eliot Merceron SUI on the 31th position.
The upcoming fresher breeze from the shore and some waves produced more difficult conditions for Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI in the 470 women, and the day ranks 21 and 37 were rather disappointing after the smashing start on day 1. The Thoune team dropped on rank 11, but they remain within the possibilities for a Nations qualification for Tokyo 2020. With two good races in their Group (6/10), Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI advanced on rank 22 in the 470 men.
Bad news however from the Finns, where Nils Theuninck SUI fell sick and had to leave out all 3 races of the day. The chance to collect an Olympic berth is therefore over for the moment. Next chance Finn Worlds 2019. .
