Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Final results

Much action yesterday, the final day of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia, in the Medal Races sailed in a fresh 20 to 25kn wind. The races for the Nacras 17, 49ers and 49ersFX and 49ers were called off due to strong winds and big seas, while the Finns, Lasers, 470s and RS:X classes completed spectacular Medal races. --- The high-performance classes were therefore ranked according to the Final Series fleetraces with Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR on 1st in the 49ers, Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA, back from the Volvo Ocean Race, again on top of the 49ersFX and Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS for once ahed of the Italians in the Nacra 17. --- In the 470 men, Anton Dahlberg/Frederik Bergström SWE were also the clear winners of the Medal Race and celebrated a dominating victory ahead of Xammar/Rodriguez ESP and Patience/Grube GBR. Same situation in the 470 women, where the leading Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR finished on top of the Medal Race as well. Lecointre/Retornaz FRA and Mrak/Macarol SLO completed the podium. --- Andrew Maloney NZL defended his lead in the Finns, but the winner of the day, Giles Scott GBR, reduced the backlog to 2 points only. Josh Junior NZL remained on 3rd. --- In the RS:X men windsurfers, Michael Cheng HKG finished first ahead of Hao Chen CHN. Pedro Pascual Suitt USA moved up on rank 3. In the RS:X women , Yue Tan CHN took the title followed by Hei Man Chan HKG and Laerke Buhl-Hansen DEN. --- In the Lasers Standard, Christopher Barnard USA defended his lead ahead of Eliot Hanson GBR, new on second, winning the Medal Race, with a 2-point backlog on the American. The Olympic medalist Nick Thompson GBR followed on 3rd. In the Lasers Radial, Anne-Marie Rindom DEN repeated her last-year victory ahead of the Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED new on 2nd, only 2 points back after winning the Medal Race. Erika Reineke USA finished on rank 3 overall. --- All ranking lists and the final report.
