World Sailing - Midyear Meeting 2019 - London GBR - Laser remains Olympic

At the World Sailing Midyear Meeting in London over the past weekend, the main agenda item was again the selection of the Olympic classes for 2024. By a large majority, the Council confirmed the two Laser events for 2024, even though the relevant Equipment Committee had spoken in its recommandation for the RS Aero. For the windsurfers, the proposal to maintain the RS:X as is for 2024 was rejected and an evaluation procedure will be initiated as requested by top windsurfers such as the 2012 Olympic Champions (Dorian Van Rijsselberge NED and Marina Alabau ESP) including the more and more popular windfoilers as well. There is no definite decision yet on the mixed offshore keelboat.
