Six Olympic Classes - the 470s and RS:X windsurfers are missing - start to their competitions at the 2020 Kiel Week today. Due to Corona restrictions, various athletes, especially from important sailing nations such as AUS, NZL, CHN, GBR are missing. ----- In the 60-boat 49ers, Bildstein-Hussl AUT, Fantela/Fantela CRO, Warrer/Precht-Jensen DEN, Heil-Plössl GER have their chances in absence of the strong GBR, NZL, and AUS teams. Switzerland is represented with 5 teams, i.e. the Olympians Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI, the development team Bachelin/De Planta, and for the first time three new teams from Lake Thoune, among them the former 470 team Nick Zeltner/Till Seger RCO. ----- In the 49erFX, 59 teams are on the entry list with Dobson/Tidey GBR, Lutz/Beucke GER, or Bekkering/Duetz NED. For the first time, two new Swiss teams are among the starters. ----- In the Finns, only 26 teams are present without many big names. Nicholas Heiner NED, Max Salminen SWE, or Jorge Zarif BRA, not to forget Nils Theuninck SUI have a chance for medals. ----- 59 women are sailing their Lasers Radial, with Anne-Marie Rindom DEN, Alison Young GBR or Annalise Murphy IRL as favorites. The Olympian Maud Jayet SUI represents Switzerland. ----- In the Lasers Standard, 101 boats are on the entry list, to mention Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA or Charlie Buckingham USA. The newly crowned Swiss Champion Gautier Verhulst SUI will participate in his first important international event. ----- The favorites among the 28 Nacra 17 teams are Gimson/Burnett GBR, Tita/Banti ITA, Bissaro/Frascari ITA or the Olympic Champions Lange/Carranza ARG. ----- The 99 29ers from 11 nations sail another round of their Europa Cup. Three Swiss teams are among the participants. ----- All entry lists.
