IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Les Sables d'Olonne FRA Day 4
Since its start, the Vendée Globe 2020 has exceeded all expectations in terms of excitement and incidents! Unusual weather conditions for this time of year have made for a very balanced race, with the non-foiling outsiders continuing to lead the standings. In the night, the fleet, previously split into a northern and southern group, reunited. Jean LeCam FRA ('Yes we Cam'), sailing in the very south, has taken the lead. Benjamin Dutreux FRA ('OMIA', non-foil) and Nicolas Troussel FRA ('Corum', foil), both also from the south, followed closely behind this morning UTC. With a gap of 17nm, Samantha Davis GBR ('Initiatives Coeur', foil) racing in the northern group is in 4th place. Alex Thomson GBR ('Hugo Boss', foil) 30nm back was in the 8th position. With a 58nm backlog, Boris Herrmann GER ('Seaexplorer', foil) is now 16th, Alan Roura SUI ('La Fabrique', foil) advanced on rank 17 with a 69nm deficit. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
