IMOCA Open 60 - Vendée Globe - Day 13 - Thomas Ruyant FRA takes the lead, Alan Roura SUI

Saturday, November 21, 2020
After three days of high-speed sailing, Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut', Foiler) took the lead during the past night UTC. Thanks to a more direct course towards the Cape of Good Hope and slightly fresher winds than the western-sailing Alex Thompsom GBR ('Hugo Boss', Foiler), Ruyant was 23nm ahead of the Englishman this morning. Unchanged on 3rd place Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia', Foiler) with 75nm behind. The next hurdle will be the weak high of St-Helena, which reaches far to the South. Further changes in the rankings can be expected. Jean Le Cam FRA ('Yes we Cam', Non-Foiler) continues to follow in 4th place, now 272nm behind and being chased by a group of 6 foilers, including Boris Herrmann GER ('SeaExplorer', Foiler) in 7th place, 364nm behind and Samantha Davis GBR ('Initiatives Coeur', Foiler) in 9th place 400nm behind. ----- Alan Roura SUI is still 18th, his gap has grown to 967nm. ----- The race tracker, the reports, and a detailed video summary of the first week of racing.
