Challenging conditions with a 20 kn breeze and the short and steep Ijssel-Meer chop prevailed on the first day of the Paralympic Classes World Championship. This was above all for the 2.4m a wet affair. Damien Séguin FRA mastered the conditions the best winning both heats of the day. Heiko Kröger GER (2/2) and Matt Bugg AUS (3/3) are the first chasers. Peter Eagar CAN is 27th, Dee Smith USA, one of the favorites, did not compete. Shared lead in the Skud 18 with Alexandra Rickham/Nikki Birrell GBR and the surprising Monika Gibes/Piotr Cichocki POL. Daniel Fitzgibbon/Liesl Tesch AUS follow on rank 3. John McRoberts/Jackie Gay CAN are 5th, Sarah Skeels/Cindy Walker USA 7th. John Robertson/ Hannah Stodel/Stephen Merget GBR won both heats in the Sonars ahead of the co-favorites Colin Harrison AUS and Bruno Jourdren FRA with their teams on the ranks 2 and 3. Alphonsus Doerr USA and Paul Tingley CAN with their teams are on the ranks 5 and 7.
