The winds remained moderate on the first day of the Olympic Classes Kiel Week. All Olympic events except the RS:X Windsurfers are held.
In the 49ers, Josh Porebski/Trent Rippey NZL took the interim's lead with two race wins. Robert Scheidt/Gabriel Borges BRA follow on rank 2. The German Olympic medalists Heil/Plössel GER are on the 3rd place. Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA are 39th among 68 starters.
Hans HENKENIn the 49ersFX, Victoria Jurczok/Anika Lorenz GER are on rank 1 ahead of the favorites Annemiek Bekkering/Marieke Jongens NED. Kate Shaner/Caroline Atwood USA are 9th, Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA 17th among 48 starters.
In the 470 men, Bargehr/Mähr AUT and the Olympic Silver medalists Belcher/Ryan AUS share the first place. Frederike Loewe/Anna Markfort GER are on top of the 470 women with the day ranks 1 and 3. The Olympians Carrie Smith/Jaime Ryan AUS follow 6 points behind.
Last year's winner Deniss Karpak EST has already taken the lead in the Finns with Nenad Bugarin CRO 2nd at equal points with the first. The Nacra-17-catamarans in the process of changing to a foiling version have mostly development teams at the start. Thomas Zajac/Barbara Matz AUT are on top with two race wins.
