Light winds prevailed on the first day of the Olympic Classes Kiel Week and both Laser fleets completed two races each.
Vasileia Karachaliou GRE won both races in the Lasers Radial and is first interim's ahead of Svenja Weger GER and Erika Reineke USA 4 points behind on the ranks 2 and 3. Brenda Bowskill CAN and Coralie Vittecoq CAN followed on the ranks 40 and 41 among the 69 participants.
Italian Laser sailors are on top of the 129 boats' Laser Standard fleet with Marco Benini ITA and Francesco Marrai ITA. At equal points on rank 3 follow Enrique Arathoon ESA (El Salvador), Sergei Komissarov RUS and Valeriy Kudryashov UKR. Yanik Gentry MEX is 17th, Robert Davis CAN 25th
