ACat Polish Championship Sopot POL Day 1 Luc Dubois SUI is back
Switzerland is represented with 11 participants at the forthcoming high-class A-Cat World Championship with 144 A-Cats on the entry list. After some years' absence, Luc Dubois SUI (age 55) is back in the racing scene and started well to the Polish Championship as 11th after the first day.
The former Optimist, Laser and 470 Swiss Champion and 1984 Olympian, he has been with the avantgard of technology developments in sailing for over 30 years. In the 80ies of last century, he invented the 3D-technology for sails, laminating the sails of his 470 in the cellar of his parents' home. He was immediately hired by North USA where he organised the production process for 3D sails. As 'Speedmaster', he was responsible at 'Alinghi' for the boat performance. As a member of the 'Team New Zealand' Tech Crew, he was involved in the development of the foiling/flying AC-catamaran for San Francisco. In the past four years, he was engaged by the 'BAR Team' of Ben Ainslie GBR.
His performance in the comeback on the A-Cat will be followed with interest.
