Windsurfing - RS:X World Championship 2017 - Enoshima JPN - Day 1 with NorAm participants

The RS:X Windsurfer World Championship 2017 began on the 2020 Olympic waters yesterday with two races per class. The overnight storm left the sea quite rough, but with 10-12 kn, the wind was down to moderate.
In the RS:X men, the interim's leader is Louis Giard FRA winning two races of his group. Makoto Tomizawa JPN follows 5 pts behind on rank 2. Only another point back are Pavel Tarnowski POL, Byron Kokkalanis GRE and Shahar Zubari ISR at equal points on the ranks 3 - 5. Juan Bosco Barba MEX is 29th, Gabriel Verrier-Paquette CAN is 73rd. No USA drivers.
In the RS:X women, Peina Chen CHN won both races and leads overall 2 pts ahead of Zofia Noceti-Klepacka POL. Hongmai Shi CHN and Jiahui Wu CHN are at equal points on rank 3. Farrah Hall USA is 33rd.
