Two days ago, the Race Village of the Ocean Race beginning in Sunday was opened in Alicante ESP with a varied support program to attract a big crowd. Part of this show part is the Alicante Match Race, sailed on M32 catamarans as in use at the World Match Racing Tour. After two days, the fleetracing part is over and the Quarter Finals are on the program today.
Yann Guichard FRA and Pieter-Jan Postma NED qualified directly while the 6 remaining Quarter Finalists were selected in the Sail-Offs. Among the qualified is also the all-female team of Sally Barkow USA (with Elodie Jane Méttraux SUI and Nathalie Brugger SUI).
