Winning 2 races in the fresh winds prevailing yesterday at the 470 Worlds in Japan, Jordi Xammar/Nicolas Rodriguez ESP reclaimed the lead in the 470 Men, but Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS are only 1 point behind. ----- No position change among the North Americans with Stuart McNay/David Hughes USA (Trevor Moore Foundation) as 16th, Trevor Davis/Trevor Bornarth USA (Severn Sailing Association/Oyster Bay 470 Team) as 51st and Joshua Yale/Michael Montagnese CAN as 52nd among the 52 participants. ----- In the battle for the four 2020 Olympic nations berths (USA is already qualified), GRE is on a safe place with Panagiotis/Mantis GRE on 5th. RUS, TUR and CHN would be in as well after 9 races. HUN (backlog 8 points), GER (at 15 points) and SUI (at 19 points) hope for a miracle in the last race of today. ----- In the 470 women, Ai Kondo/Miho Yoshioka JPN reduced the deficit on the leading Hannah Mills/Saskia Clarke GBR to 2 points. Elena Berta/Bianca Caruso ITA progressed on rank 3. Position changes among the US women with Atlantic Brugman Cabot/Nora Brugman Cabot USA (Shelter Island YC) on 30th, Nikole Barnes/Lara Dallman-Weiss USA (St. Francis YC/New York YC) on 31st and Carmen Cowles/Emma Cowles USA (Larchmont YC) on 32nd. Emily Bornarth/Laura Slovensky USA (Oyster Bay 470 Team) remain on rank 38 among the 39 participants. ----- The six available Olympic berths go currently to POL (rank 7, 86 pts), BRA (10th, 95 pts), AUS (11th, 98 pts), NED (12th, 101 pts), ISR (13th, 125 pts) and GER (16th, 145 pts).
