Yesterday, the ORC fleets did their Coastal Races in perfect sailing conditions, while the Melges IC37 completed three additional round-the-buoy races on the outer circle at the Newport Race Week. ----- The leading OCR1 trio finished on top of the long-distance race as well, and the interim rankings before the last two or three races of today remain unchanged: The TP52 'Vesper' of David Team, Newport Beach, CA, USA, is still in the lead just one point ahead of the Botin 52 'Fox' of Victor Wild, San Diego, CA, USA. 'Bella Mente', the Maxi 72 of Hap Fauth, Naples, FL, USA, remains on 3rd with a 12 point backlog. ----- No change on top of the ORC2 with the Swan 42 'Impetuous' of Paul Zabetakis, Jamestown, RI, USA, winner of the day, on the first rank overall, 2 points ahead of the J/109 'Leading Edge' of William Sutton, Houston, TX, USA. The Farr 30 'Das Blau Max' of Cory Sertl, Jamestown, RI, USA on the 3rd place is now 21 points behind. ----- In Melges IC37, the dominator of Thursday, 'Waka Jawaka' of Michael Goldfarb/Laura Grondin, Seattle, WA, USA, had a bad day (ranks 8/8/5) and dropped on rank 4. Christopher Culver on 'Blazer II' is now the clear leader 9 points ahead of 'Pacific Yankee' of Drew Freides /Bill Ruh, Los Angeles, CA, USA, best of the day (1/1/3), and up from 4th to 2nd.
