 Olympic Worldcup - Finals - Marseille FRA - Final results A very light breeze filled in only very late in the afternoon in Marseille FRA yesterday. Just before the latest possible start time, the 470 Medal Races could sail their Medal Races.

No change on top of the 470 men with Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS clearly winning ahead of Jordi Xammar/Nicolas Rodriguez ESP and Hippolyte Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA. In the 470 women, Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz FRA succeeded to control the one-point-leading Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR right from the start and controlled the GBR women in a matchracing style till the end. Mas-Depares/Cantero ESP earned Bronze. With a 6th race rank, Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI advanced on rank 8.

The two Laser and the Finn Medal Races had to be cancelled due to lack of wind. Andy Maloney NZL finished first in the Finns. Nils Theuninck SUI followed on 8th. Im Lasers, the winners were Giovanni Cocolutto ITA in the Standards and Viktorija Andrulyte LTU in the Radials.

 Olympic Worldcup - Finals - Marseille FRA - Day 6 After a week with mostly fresh winds, the first five Medal Races were sailed in a light to moderate breeze of 8-10kn yesterday. Today, the remaining five classes will held their crucial final race. We shall report livestream on www.sailing-news.com as from 11h UTC.

The RS:X men Medal Race was exciting: Mattia Camboni ITA grasped the overall victory ahead of Daniele Benedetti ITA. Louis Giard FRA advanced on rank 3. In the RS:X women, Liliane De Geus NED had everything under control winning with a big advance, but the fight for Silver and Bronze was tight and decided in favour of Saskia Sills GBR over Flavia Tartaglini ITA on the final downwind leg only.

Behind the premature winners in the 49ers, Federico and Arturo Alonso ESP, the positions on the podium remained unchanged. Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT and Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI earned Silver and Bronze. In the 49ersFX, Julie Bossard/Aude Compan FRA remained on top winning the Medal Race. Melzacka/Loboda POL took Silver. The duel for Bronze went in favour of Omari/Distefano ITA replacing the tied Schöfegger/Boustani AUT on the podium.

No change in the Nacra-17 catamarans with Vittorio Bisarro/Maelle Frascari ITA on first in front of John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBR. Ruggero Tita (just selected for the Luna Rossa/Pirelli America's Cup team) with Caterina Banti ITA earned Bronze.

Winning the Medal Race as well, Nicolas Parlier FRA was the dominating first in Open Kiteboarding ahead of Théo De Ramecourt FRA and Axel Mazella FRA.

The remaining five classes will sail their Medal Races today with two premature winners: the Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS are first in the 470 men with a 20 point lead, 18 points is the advantage of Viktoria Andrulyte LTU in the Lasers Radial.

The fight for the Medals will be exciting in the Lasers Standard with the first 5 separated by 7 points only. Only 6 points is the difference of the ranks 2 to 5 in the Lasers Radial. In the 470 women, the duel for Gold is between Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR and Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz FRA one point behind.

In the Finns, Andy Maloney NZL is on top 8 points ahead of Josh Junior NZL, and another 8 points back follows Max Salminen SWE on 3rd.

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Finals - Marseille FRA - Day 4 The program of the day had to be abandoned at 13h UTC when the initial 15kn breeze was freshening to over 30kn. Today, the Medal Races of the RS:X windsurfers, 49ers, 49ersFX and Nacra 17 will take place. To be followed on www.sailing-news.com as from 11h UTC. The other classes sail their final fleetraces.

After another convincing day, Federico Alonso/Arturo Alonso ESP are the premature winners in the 49ers with a 27 point advantage before the Medal Race. On the second place follow Bildstein/Hussl AUT. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI on rank 3 are 10 points behind the Austrians, but the advantage on the closest opponents is small.
In the 49erFX, Aleksandra Melzacka/Kinga Loboda POL, day ranks 1 and 3, reduced the gap on the leading Julie Bossard/Aude Compan FRA to 4 points.
16 points is the advantage of Vittorio Bisarro/Maelle Frascari ITA on John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBR in the Nacra 17.

 Olympic Worldcup - Finals - Marseille FRA - Day 3, the Swiss After the windy Wednesday, sun and a moderate seabreeze of 11-15kn prevailed yesterday in Marseille and the full program could be completed in all classes.
Sailing 3 races, the 470 compensated for the delay. The day ranks 1/2/1 brought the Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS on top of the 470 men ahead of Xammar/Rodriguez ESP and Peponnet/Mion FRA. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI had their best races (5/7) and moved up on rank 9.
In the 470 women, Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR have taken the overall lead ahead of Lecointre/Retornaz FRA new on rank 2 with two bullets yesterday. Zegers/Berkhout NED are now on 3rd. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI are on the 8th place and will have to defend the Medal Race qualification in the remaining two days.

Olympic Worldcup - Finals - Marseille FRA - Day 2 - Windy day !

 Olympic Worldcup - Finals - Marseille FRA - Day 2 - Windy day ! An up to 30kn wind prevailed yesterday in Marseille and only the classes scheduled for morning starts - the 470s, Lasers, Nacras 17 and 49ers - completed at least one race. The Kiteboarders however held their full program. The RS:X windsurfers, the Finns and the 49ersFX remained ashore.
In the 470 men, the winners were Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS reducing the backlog on the leading Xammar/Rodriguez ESP to one point.
In the 470 women, Afrodite Zegers/Lobke Berkhout NED finished first and are the new leaders ahead of Ai Kondo/Miho Yoshioka JPN new on 2nd. 9.
Only four 49ers terminated the 49er race as capsizes and equipment failures reduced the fleet. The winners of the day Alonso/Alonso ESP cut the gap on the leading Kevin Fischer/Yann Jauvin FRA to one point.
In the Lasers Radial, Andrulyte LTU moved up on top with a bullet, followed by Carolina Albano ITA on 2nd.
In the Lasers Standard, Adonis Bougiouris GRE was first. Ryan Lo SGP remains on top overall.
Bisarro/Maelle Frascari ITA replaced Billy Besson/Marie Riou FRA on rank one in the Nacra 17 winning both races of the day.
The Kiteboarders, completing the full 4-race program, were again dominated by Nico Parlier FRA extending the overall lead with three race wins.

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Finals - Marseille FRA - Day 1 Sun and a moderate seabreeze around 12kn prevailed yesterday during the first races of the Olympic Classes Worldcup Final in Marseille FRA. The participation however is disappointing in half of the events with less than 10 boats in the Lasers, and very small fleets in the Finns, 49ers or 49ersFX that had their full-house Europeans two weeks ago.
In the 470 men, Xamar/Rodriguez ESP won both races of the day. Belcher/Ryan AUS and Ferrari/Calabro ITA follow 3 points behind.
In the 470 women , Frederike Löwe/Anna Markfort GER are on first with two 3rd race ranks. Mills/McIntyre GBR, Oster/Winkel GER and Cornudella/Lopez ESP follow 4 points back tied on 2nd.
In the RS:X windsurfers , Mattia Camboni ITA has taken the lead one point ahead of Angel Granda ESP. Pierre Le Coq FRA and Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI follow tied on 3rd and 4th.
Megumi Iseda ESP is first in the RS:X women ahead of Flavia Tartaglini ITA and Lilian De Geus NED.

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Finals - Marseille FRA -  Start today The Olympic Classes Worldcup Final will begin in Marseille today on the Olympic waters of 2024. The top-30 of the World Ranking Lists are qualified, but only 183 of the 300 invited will attend this Grand Final, considered by the organising World Sailing staff as their 'top event'. In addition to the 10 Olympic events, the Kiteboarders, Olympic Class for 2024, will participate.

 Olympic Worldcup 2019 - Finals - Marseille FRA - Start today, the Swiss The Olympic Classes Worldcup Final will begin in Marseille, the Olympic waters of 2024, today with the top-30 of the World Ranking Lists qualified, but not all attending. 325 athletes from 40 nations are present. Switzerland is represented by the Olympic campaigners in the 470 (m&w), the 49er and the RS:X windsurfers. In addition to the 10 Olympic events, the Kiteboarders, Olympic Class for 2024, will participate.
