Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Miami Olympic Classes Regatta - Miami FL, USA - Day 1

Light and shifty winds prevailed on the first day of the Miami Worldcup event during the first races sailed in both Laser classes, two for the Standards and one for the Radials.
Rutger Van Schaardenburg NED had a perfect first day with the ranks 1 and 2 in the Lasers Standard ahead of Milivoj Dukic MNE (2/3) and Nicholas Heiner NED (4/5). Race wins were also booked by Andrew Maloney NZL, Scott Sydney SIN and Kenji Nanri JPN.
In the Radials, the World Champion Anne-Marie Rindom DEN and Lijia Xu CHN were the winners of the only race completed in their Groups. Emma Plaaschaert BEL and Silvia Zennaro ITA were twice on 2nd. Almost half of the fleet were penalised for premature starts.
