The World Championships of the three fastest Olympic classes begins today in Florida with the Practice Races. According to the entry lists, the complete international Olympic circuit fleets will be on the starting lines for a performance test six months before the Olympics. Here the preview of the 49er class.
Switzerland is represented in the Nacra 17 by Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI, who will be among the favorites for medals. Their clear objective however is to finish in the top-eight, the selection critieria of Swiss Olympic for Rio.
Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI participate in the 49er Worlds, endeavouring to confirm the remarkable results of the last regattas, especially in light winds, where they succeeded to race with the fastest. But this time, the conditions will be rough on the first two days with a fresh breeze around 25 kn.
