49er, Nacra 17 World Championship 2016 Clearwater FL, USA Day 1, the Swiss
A fresh 18-20 kn breeze a steep, short, choppy waves due to the shallow waters made racing very challenging on the first day of the combined World Championships of the Olympic highperformance classes in Clearwater Florida. The experienced teams dominated the only race of the day in the 49ers and Nacras 17. The 49ersFX remained ashore.
Among the top teams were Matias Bühler/Nathalie Brugger SUI, finishing excellent 2nd in the Nacra 17 behind the defending Champions Besson/Riou FRA, confirming their convincing results in the tune-up regattas to this important championship. The report of the Nacras.
Not so easy the day for the young light-weight 49er development team Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI, but they at least completed the difficult windy race on rank 51. Almost 20% of the fleet abandoned the race. The 49er rankings, the daily news and the video.
