Olympic Classes Trofeo Princesa Sofia Palma ESP Day 2 the Swiss
Almost all Swiss improved their results from the previous day substantially advacing in the rankings.
This is true above all for Yannick Brauchli/Romuald Hausser SUI among the best of the day in the 470 men with the day ranks 2 and 4 and moving up on rank 7 overall, well positioned to continue the competition in the Goldfleet. Remarkable is also the result of Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI who are also qualified for the Goldfleet with the 29th place. Biedermann/Hänssler SUI as 57th will continue in the Silverfleet. The light-wind specialists Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI could not match their top results of the windy first day, and with the day ranks 16 and 12m they descended on the 11th interim' place in the 470 women.
A major jump ahead did the adhoc Nacra17 team Joao Siemsen BRA/Nathalie Brugger SUI, moving up on the 5th place after three top ranks yesterday. In the 49ers, Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI finished for the first time in the top-tens, but a premature start disqualification did not allow to improve the rankings substantially. They are now 43rd.
Among the best of the day in the light conditions was Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI with the ranks 1 and 3 in the RS:X men windsurfers, advancing on the 15th place. As 46th, Elia Colombo SUI missed the Goldfleet by 4 points only.
The Swiss Laser will continue the regatta in the Silverfleet. Christoph Bottoni SUI is now 59th and Guillaume Girod SUI 64th. Thanks to a 7th race finish, Maud Jayet SUI consolidated her overall position and qualified for the Goldfleet with the 38th place, protecting her theoretical chances to qualify for the Olympics.
