The Dutch Youth Regatta on the Ijssel-Meer began yesterday in moderte winds. Over 600 participants split in 6 classes are on the entry lists this year. For the Swiss Optimist sailors, this is the second selection event to qualify for the World or European Championship teams.
Leaders in the Optimists after two races are Daniel Cante SLO and Richard Schultheis MLT, both with two bullets in their groups. Adrian Surroca GER follows on rank 3. Ange Delerce FRA on the 4th place is the best girl. With the day ranks 6 and 5, Achille Casco SUI occupies rank 18 overall as best of the Swiss. Arnaud Grange SUI (rank 21), Maxime Thommen SUI (25) and Anja Von Allmen SUI (28) are also among the best in the 390 boats' fleet. In the 29ers, Gwendal Nael/Lilliane Mercier FRA have taken the lead. Verderber/Semmelbaur SLO and Vieregger/Vieregger GER are the first challengers. The best Swiss team Kaifun Shen/Thomas Lepère SUI follows on rank 19 among the 38 starters. Emma Svelon NED and Finn Holtrop NED are on the 1st place in the Lasers 4.7 at equal points. Matthew Keller SUI is on the good 6th position among the 43 participants. Titouan Savelon NED leads in the Lasers Radial with Eric-Jan Westerhof NED and Stijn Paardekooper NED as first chasers. Arthur Baudet SUI follows on rank 24 among the 44 sailors.
