Olympic News from Rio - Spanish and Danish sailors threatened by criminal gangs

The Spanish Nacra-17 team with 2008 Olympic Gold medalist in the Tornado multihull, Fernando Echavarri and crew Tara Pacheco as well as their coach, former world champion Santi López-Vázquez, were approached by five people armed with two pistols on their way to breakfast. They were robbed of the electronic devices they were carrying. Danish Nacra-17 and Laser sailors were caught in the vicinity of a gunfight between two local street gangs and had to seek shelter near the Niteroi harbour.
