Star - Star Sailors League - Finals - Bahamas BAH - Day 3, Eric Monnin SUI
Friday, December 2, 2016
Yesterday, the Star fleet completed three races on Montague Bay in consideraby lighter southeasterly winds than the previous days at 8 knots dropping to as little as 4 knots by the end of the day. In the second and third race of the day, rule 42 was in effect and this eliminated the downwind gymnastics and a few boats were penalized for pumping, rocking and ouching.
The only team with nothing but top-five results were Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih USA taking the overall lead with 6 points on Diego Negri/Sergio Lambertenghi ITA. These two teams will probably fight for rank one in the fleet series in the two races today to qualify directly for the Final of the best four. Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening BRA on the 3rd place are now 9 points behind still with chances to move on top. The best of the invited VIP teams are now the light-weight 470 Olympic Champion Sime Fantela with Antonio Arapovic CRO moving up on rank 5 with a race win. Eric Monnin SUI/Pascal Rambeau FRA benefitted also from the light wind and advanced on rank 21 with a 7th race rank as their best finish so far.
The ranking list, the daily news, the full replay of yesterdays livestream and the Paul Cayard USA report .
As every day, racing can be followed live on our website as from 15h UTC.
