IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe 2016/17 Day 44
No position changes during the last 24 hours: Armel Le Cléac'h FRA remains on top and will probably round Cape Horn before Christmas. Alex Thompson GBR has finally touched a fresher breeze and kept the backlog on the Frenchman at 510 nm. Paul Meilhat FRA and Jérémy Béyou FRA on the ranks 3 and 4 are still sailing jointly, separated by 8 nm only. Two retirements are expected in the coming hours. Stéphane Diraison FRA with a broken mast is heading for Australia under jury rig and Thomas Ruyant FRA, whose Open 60 is about to break apart after a heavy crash with flotsam. Here the onboard video.
