IMOCA Open 60 - Vendée Globe 2016/17 - Day 97 - Conrad Coleman NZL dismasted, Alan Roura SUI

During the past night, Conrad Coleman NZL on the 10th position lost his mast saiing upwind in a 35 kn wind, and this only 700 nm before the finish line with 97% of his round-the-world race completed ! He tries now to reach Les Sables d'Olonne under jury rig, but no doubt, he would loose some ranks. The news. Eric Bellion FRA - he too fighting in a 30 kn north-easterly upwind - had 450 nm left this morning. His ETA is now Sunday evening. Alan Roura SUI sailing South of the Acores is 1'900 nm away from Les Sables d'Olonne. After the incident of Coleman, he will probably move up on rank 12 overall.
