ILCA 6 & 7 - European Olympic Qualifier -Vilamoura POR - Day 3

With two more races by Class, the qualifications for Gold and Silver fleets were completed in Vilamoura yesterday. ----- In the ILCA 6, Annemarie Rindom DEN booked another race win (her 4th in 6 races) and is clearly on top of the ranking. Marie Barrué FRA follows in 2nd place, 8 points behind. Manami Doi JPN, yesterday best of the day with ranks 2 and 4, moved up to rank 3. Maud Jayet SUI remains in the title race, 15 points behind in 4th place going into the finals. ----- The fight for the last two Olympic starting places has been decided: Only Shai Kakon ISR (rank 19) and Carolina João POR (rank 43) of the not yet qualified nations made it into the Goldfleet. ----- The ILCA 7 race remains exciting: Filip Jurisic CRO is still leading, but Michael Beckett GBR is now equal on points on rank 2, and Robert Scheidt BRA (yesterday 1/2) is only one point behind on rank 3. ----- Of the 17 European aspirants for the two Olympic places, 5 could not qualify for the Gold fleet, and 12 candidate nations are left. Joel Rodriguez ESP in 8th place is still on course for the Olympics. 12 points behind follows Duko Bos NED in 13th with a 5 point advance on Eliot Merceron SUI in 15th, both fighting for the second nation berth. ----- All rankings and the daily report.
