Optimist - European Championship 2021 - Cadiz ESP - Day 1

Challenging conditions with 14-16 knots of wind and tidal currents prevailed yesterday at the start of the Optimist European Championships in Cadiz. As always, boys and girls are sailing in separate fleets. Two heats each could be sailed. ----- With two race wins in his group - the fleet of 155 participants was divided into two groups - Xavier Garcia ESP took the lead among the boys. Igit Ösbazoglu TUR follows 2 points behind in second place. ----- An Italian double, lead by Emilia Salvatore ITA (2/1) and Sofia Bommartini ITA (5/2), are ahead in the girls' race.
