The good wind conditions (12-16 knots) ensured that the large regatta programme could be carried out quickly today. As many as 8 of the 10 Olympic classes were in action, a total of 21 races were sailed. With 9 races each, the RS:X windsurfers are the most advanced with their competitions. Tomorrow there are 3 more qualifying races on the programme, then on Friday there will be the Medal Race. Kiran Badloe NED leads the men with 8 points ahead of Mattia Camboni ITA. Thomas Goyard FRA follows in third place. With 15 points behind the podium, Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI is still in good shape in 8th place. With two heat wins, Emma Wilson GBR surfed her way to the top of the female windsurfers. Only one point behind is now Yunxiu Lu CHN in 2nd place and also Charline Picon FRA with 3 points behind remain in the race. Marta Maggetti ITA is already 17 points back in 4th. The 470s started their Olympics with two races. Agnieszca Skrzypulec/Jolanta Ogar POL convinced with two race wins, followed by the favourites Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz FRA (3/2) and Hannah Mills/Eilidh McIntyre GBR (4/3) on rank 2 and 3. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI managed a strong 4th place in the second race after a slow first heat (13th). They are now 8th in the intermediate ranking. In the men's race, the defending champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS have already taken the lead. Paul Snow-Hansen/Daniel Willcox NZL follow one point behind in 2nd place, Jordi Xammar/Nicolas Rodriguez ESP are 3rd. There were no surprises in the first three races of the Nacra 17: Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA lead with two race wins ahead of Paul Kohlhoff/Alica Stuhlemmer GER and Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS who are tied on points. In the Finn, Alican Kaynar TUR is in the lead, Zsombor Beresz HUN is tied for second place. Only one point behind is Joan Cardona ESP still 3rd. Best of the day with two heat wins, defending champion Giles Scott moved up to 4th. In the 49er, Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR have maintained their lead after 4 races. One point behind are Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP 2nd, tied for 3rd and 4th are William and Sam Philipps AUS and Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI started rather shy in 14th. In the 49erFX, Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED moved up to second place with two race wins. Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR are still leading with 8 points. Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP have moved up to third place. All rankings and the reports.
