Class 40 - Normandy Channel Race - Ouistreham FRA - Day 1

The Normandy Channel Race for Class 40 two-person teams started yesterday in Ouistreham on the Normandy coast. In moderate winds, the well-attended fleet has already passed the Isle of Wight this morning and is now on its way to Tuskar Rock on the east coast of Ireland. ----- 'Redman' with Antoine Carpentier/Nicolas Jossier FRA leads the closely packed fleet. The 30 teams also include Vendée Globe veterans Mike Golding GBR (with Alexander Merhan GBR, 16th, 2.6 miles back) and Vincent Riou FRA(with pole vault Olympic champion Jean Galfione, 18th, 2.9 miles back).
