No more wind for the Medal Races in Vilamoura yesterday. The European Championship, mostly held in moderate winds, brought some new teams to the top. ----- After 9 qualifying races and 3 final races, Lucas Rual/Emile Amoros FRA won the 49ers by a narrow margin of 0.4 points ahead of Dominik Buksak/Szymon Wierzbicki POL, with bronze going to Isaac McHardie/William McKenzie NZL. Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT followed in 4th place, missing out on the podium by just 2 points. Sébastien Schneiter/Arno De Planta SUI finished a solid 10th, with 3 race wins and several double-digit results. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI finished 37th, and the newcomers Pablo Rüegge/Linus Abicht SUI followed in 62nd place of the 93 teams. ----- In the 49ersFX, Helen Naes/Marie Roenningen NOR won ahead of Jana Germani/Giorgia Bertuzzi ITA and Tamara Echegoyen/Paula Barcelo ESP. Sophie Studer/Sterre Wiersma SUI, sailing their first Europeans, finished 52nd. In the Silverfleet, they met teams like Paris Henken USA with ILCA Olympic champion Anna Tobias-Tunnicliffe USA (27th place) or the 2016 470 Olympic champions Jo Aleh/Molly Meech NZL (34th place).
