SSL47 - Gold-Cup, 1/8-Finals - Gran Canaria ESP - Day 1

Very light winds yesterday for the first races of the 1/8 finals of the Gold Cup. The first group was able to sail their race in moderate winds, with Argentina winning ahead of Hungary. The 2nd group then struggled in inconsistent conditions with numerous gybes and lulls. Lithuania secured victory ahead of Brazil. In Group 3, the Swiss team with Eric Monnin SUI at the helm and tactician Jean-Marc Monnard SUI moved up to first place shortly before the finish, after South Africa had led the entire race.
