The fourth, double-counting final race of the 1/8 finals brought varied, intense racing with numerous position changes and surprises. In Group 1, Malaysia, with ILCA Olympic participant Khairulnizam Afendy at the helm, won the final race and thus also the group, with Hungary qualifying as the second team. In Group 2, Lithuania continued its winning streak, while Brazil won the battle for second place. Chile won Group 3, while Switzerland managed to sneak past South Africa on the final downwind leg yesterday to secure qualification for the 1/4 finals. The biggest surprise came in Group 4, where France, who had previously fallen behind badly, still made it through to the next round with a race win in extremis, with the group win going to Portugal.
