Olympic Worldcup 2018 - Olympic Classes Regatta - Miami FL, USA - Start today, the Swiss

Olympic Worldcup 2018 - Olympic Classes Regatta - Miami FL, USA - Start today, the Swiss Today begins the second Act of the Olympic Classes Worldcup 2018 in Miami FL with 540 participants from 50 nations on the entry lists, among them the top athletes in all 10 events. A special interest goes to the comeback of the former Laser Radial Olympic Champion Anna Tunnicliffe USA, this time as crew on the 49FX with Paris Henken USA. Among the starters are all Swiss Olmypic campaigners with Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI as most hopefuls, as they established themselves in the top-5 of the 470 women during the past year. Considering the fresh breeze to expect during the coming days, the other Swiss hot contender Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI will have to fight to confirm his best results in the RS:X men windsurfers.
The forecast predicts moderate winds for today's first races, increasing during the rest of the week with a Northeasterly of up to 22kn.

Support Sailing News - the situation is critical

Support Sailing News - the situation is critical The fundraising campaign launched to compensate for the shortfalls in advertising revenues has not really been successful, but none the less, we are very grateful to have received around CHF 10'000 for our work. This is unfortunately not enough to maintain our web platform in the present form, daily in three languages.
We continue fighting to redress the balance in the year ahead, hopefully with the support of our dear community: If only 10% of our more than 150,000 readers support us with a modest annual voluntary subscription fee of CHF 20, this sailing information platform stays alive and continues as the up-to-date window for international and national sailing events, clubs, classes and not to forget the athletes and their sponsors.
We thank you very much in advance for your support.

VOR-65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Leg 4 - Day 18 - Arrival today, Mettraux sisters Today in the late afternoon. 'Scallywag' with David Witt AUS will take the line honours of leg 4 in Hong Kong. Her most persistent pursuer 'Vestas' (John Towill USA) is currently in stealth mode, but in the prevailing conditions, the advantage of roughly 50nm will not deminish substantially. The positions in the second part of the fleet are unknown momentariyl as 'Turn the tide on plastic' (Dee Caffari GBR, Elodie Jane Mettraux SUI) and 'Team Brunel' (Bouwe Bekking NED) are currently invisible in stealth mode. VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Leg 4 - Day 16, the Mettraux sisters

VOR65 - Ocean Race 2017/18 - Leg 4 - Day 16, the Mettraux sisters During the past 24h, the fleet was again making good progress in well-established trade winds, and the leading 'Scallywag', 87nm ahead of the immediate challengers, was only 1'000nm from the port of call this morning UTC. Provided that no incidents occur, the team of David Witt AUS will take the line honours at their home base in two days from now. It may well be that rank 2 will also go the a Chinese team, as 'Dongfeng' was only a few miles behind the second-ranked 'Vestas' on the 3rd place, and went into 'Stealth Mode' yesterday. We shall know during the day, whether the attack of Charles Caudrelier FRA (with Franck Cammas FRA and Justine Mettraux SUI) has been successful. The overall leader 'Mapfre' (Xavi Fernandez ESP) reduced her backlog somewhat, but remained on the 5th position. The team of Dee Caffari GBR (with Elodie-Jane Mettraux SUI) keeps the 6th place.
