Olympic Worldcup 2017 - Semaine Olympique - Hyères FRA - Day 2 - the Swiss

 Olympic Worldcup 2017 - Semaine Olympique - Hyères FRA - Day 2 - the Swiss The wind conditions similar to the first day were at the taste of Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI who was again the day's best in the RS:X men windsurfers with the ranks 1 and 3. But his advantage on the 2nd is only one points. Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI had to cede the first place in the 470 women to the double race winners from the Netherlands, but with a backlog of only 2 points, they remain well positioned.
Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI advanced on rank 12 in the 49ers. Maud Jayet SUI lost 3 ranks and is now 15th in the Lasers Radial. 13 points is the gap to rank 10, the Medal Race cut. Thanks to the discarded result, Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI moved up on rank 11 in the 470 men. Livia Näf/Nelia Puhze SUI in their first international race remain on rank 20 in the d bei den 49ersFx.

Bénéteau Figaro - Solo Maître Coq - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Day 3, Justine Mettraux SUI

Layday yesterday in Les Sables d'Olonne FRA after two days with short races. Today Wednesday, the start to the two days' 350 miles long-distance race will be given. First after the three short races sailed so far is Pierre Quiroga FRA ahead of Anthony Marchand FRA. Justine Mettraux SUI follows on rank 23 among the 40 solo-skippers.

Star - Lake Constance Championship - SV Bottighofen - Final results

The Starboats opened the 2017 season on Lake Constance over the past weekend. Cold temperatures and a 10-12 kn Westwind prevailed on Saturday, allowing to complete 4 races. Sunday remained without wind.
Urs Hunkeler/Nils Holweg YCL were the winners 2 points ahead of Hans Stöckli/Urs Spahr SCMd. The local favorites Jürg Wittich/Christian Trachsel SVB followed on rank 3. 12 teams from Switzerland and Germany participated.

Olympic Worldcup 2017 - Semaine Olympique - Hyères FRA - Day 1 - top Swiss results

 Olympic Worldcup 2017 - Semaine Olympique - Hyères FRA - Day 1 - top Swiss results Swiss athletes lead in two events after the first day of the second Act of the 2017 Olympic Classes Worldcup on Hyères Bay.
Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI won two of the three races in the RS:X men windsurfers and occupies rank 1 with a 2 points' lead. In the 470 women, Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI finished on the ranks 1 and 2 in their preferred sailing conditions. A good first day also for Maud Jayet SUI in the Lasers Radial. After two races, she holds rank 12 but with the same number of points as rank 9. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI in the 470 men had a good 7th rank finish, but a 30th place in the second race relegated them on rank 19 after the first day. Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI finished three times midfleet in the 49ers and stay on rank 15 for the moment. Livia Näf/Nelia Puhze SUI had a hard day in their first international race in the demanding 49erFX. After 3 races, they are on the last place, i.e. rank 20.

 Bénéteau Figaro - Solo Maître Coq - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Day 2, Justine Mettraux SUI An overcast sky and fresh winds of up to 30 kn in the gusts prevailed on the second day of the Solo Maitre Coq, and a coastal race was completed won by Adrien Hardy FRA. Overall leader remains Pierre Quiroga FRA with Jérémy Beyou FRA and Anthony Marchand FRA on rank 2 at equal points. Justine Mettraux SUI remains 25th among the 40 starters.

Olympic Worldcup 2017 - Semaine Olympique - Hyères FRA - Start today, the Swiss

 Olympic Worldcup 2017 - Semaine Olympique - Hyères FRA - Start today, the Swiss Light winds will probably prevail today on Hyères Bay for the first races of the second Olympic Classes Worldcup event of the year. 536 participants from 51 nations are on the entry lists, among them many Olympic medalists, but also - as always in a post-Olympic year - many new faces and new-composed teams.
Switzerland is represented by the Olympians Mateo Sanz-Lanz (RS:X windsurfer), Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler (470 women) and Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean (49er) (video interview) as well as the development athletes Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart (470 men), Maud Jayet and Andrea Nordquist (Laser Radial) and for the first time the new 49erFX team of Livia Näf/Nelia Puhze.

 Bénéteau Figaro - Solo Maître Coq - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Day 1, Justine Mettraux SUI Yesterday, the single-hander class Bénéteau Figaro started to the 'Solo Maître Coq' regatta in Les Sables d'Olonne FRA with two short races. Four short coastal races are on the program till Thursday, when the start to the two-days' long-distance race will be given.
Light winds prevailed yesterday during the short races with Nicolas Lunven FRA and Pierre Quiroga FRA as race winners. Pierre Quiroga FRA is the first interim's leader ahead of Nicolas Lunven FRA and the Vendée-Globe veterans Jérémy Beyou FRA and Yann Eliès FRA. Justine Mettraux SUI was not at all satisfied with her performance staying on rank 25 among the 40 participants for the moment. The ranking list, the daily news and the video of the day.

 Mini 650 - Pornichet Select - Pornichet FRA - Day 2, the Swiss We reported yesterday on the victory overall and in the Protos Minis of Ian Lipinski POL arriving in Pornichet FRA at 2 hrs on Monday morning. In the mean-time, the complete fleet crossed the finish line. Valentin Gautier SUI (see video) finishing 7th overall was the winner in the Series Minis. Simon Koster SUI on his round-bow Proto lost some ranks in the final approach and finished 24th, i.e. rank 12 in the Protos rankings. The overall ranking list and the event facebook page.

A-Cat, F-16, Topaz - International Cat-Weekend - YC Spiez - Final results

 A-Cat, F-16, Topaz - International Cat-Weekend - YC Spiez - Final results Catamaran enjoys a growing popularity in Switzerland and good fleets met at the traditional Cat Weekend on Lake Thoune, organised by the YC Spiez. Sunny weather and a well-established thermal breeze allowed to complete 6 races in each of the 3 classes.
In the A-Cats (12 participants), Sandro Caviezel YCAs was first ahead of Charles Bueche BVT and Dieter Melcher TYC. Andreas and Andrea Lutz SCR were the winners in the F-16-Cats (14 teams) in front of Guillaume Rol/Alexis Mégevand SNG. In the youth Topaz catamarans, Basile Wohlers/Emma Jonsson YCG were on top.

Windsurfing - Marco Polo Cup - Formula/Slalom - Cremia ITA - Final results

 Windsurfing - Marco Polo Cup - Formula/Slalom - Cremia ITA - Final results Act 2 of the Swiss Windsurfing Marco-Polo-Cup took place over the past weekend on Lake Como. In a good thermal breeze, five Formula-races as well as the Slalom eliminations were held. Unfortunately, the wind disappeared at the end of the event and the Slalom final could not be sailed.
Richard Stauffacher SUI won 4 Formula-heats and finished as clear overall winner ahead of Toni Wilhelm GER and Elia Colombo SUI. First in the women's classification was Franziska Stauffacher SUI followed by Heidi Ulrich SUI.

 Season Opening  - SC Cham 70 participants showed up at the season opening event of the SC Cham / Lake Zoug on the past Sunday. After an extensive brunch, the battle on the water took place during the afternoon with a number of different, mostly funny disciplines ... apparently too complicated to publish a ranking list.  Melges 24 - European Sailing Series 2017 - Act 1 - Portoroz SLO - Final results, the Swiss The final day of the Melges 24 European Sailing Series in Portoroz SLO - Act 1 of 7 Acts schedulded for 2017 - was the windiest one of the competition with a 12-15 kn breeze. 3 races were again completed and with another race win, Andrea Racchelli ITA confirmed his superiority and finished as overall winner with an advantage of 20 points on the second-ranked Bo Pedersen DEN. Robert Bakoczy HUN followed on 3rd at equal points with the 2nd. On rank 13 is the best Swiss Jörg Hotz SUI, Michael Good SUI follows on rank 19 among the 33 teams from 15 nations.

 Mini 650 - Pornichet Select - Pornichet FRA - Day 2, the Swiss Early this morning, Ian Lipinski POL crossed the finish line of the Pornichet Select Regatta as winner, 2:30 hrs ahead of Quentin Vlamynk FRA. 20 Protos are still in the race, among them Simon Koster SUI on rank 7. Most of them will arrive later this morning. First in the Series Minis is Thomas Dolan IRL with 24 miles to go this morning. Pierre Chedeville FRA on rank 2 was one mile behind. Valentin Gautier SUI followed 8 nm back on rank 6.

 J/70 - Battle - Lindau GER - Final results, the Swiss While 12 Swiss Club Teams sailed the first Act of the 2017 Swiss Swiss Super League Championship in Locarno on J/70s, numerous Swiss participants startet at the J/70-Battle in Lindau GER over the past weekend. 30 teams from Germany, Austria and Switzerland sailed 7 races in total on Lake Constance in light winds. Veit Hemmeter GER and his team were the winners ahead of Max Rieger GER and Markus Brennecke GER (with Markus Wieser GER). The best Swiss team of David Erismann SUI followed on rank 5, Tom Studer SUI and Massimo Soriano SUI were on the 6th and 7th place.

 J/70 - Swiss Sailing League - Act 1 - YC Locarno - Final results The favorable sailing conditions on Lago Maggiore with a 12 kn thermal breeze persisted also on the last day of Round 1 of the Swiss Super Sailing League Championship in Locarno SUI, and for more flights were held. The overall rankings did not change and SV Kreuzlingen with Tom Rüegge SVK are the winners ahead of RC Oberhofen with Stefan Seger RCO and CV Neuchâtel with Jean-François De Cerjeat CVN.

Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Final results, the Swiss

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Final results, the Swiss The Laser 4.7 European Championship 2017 in Murcia ESP was concluded yesterday with two races.
Frederica Catarozzi ITA remained a class of her own in the Girls winning the title with a 17 points' advantage on Ana Moncada ESP moving up on rank 2 in the last races. Shai Kakon ISR as 3rd grasped the U16 title. Rosine Baudet SUI finished on the 21st place, rank 9 in the U16 rankings.
Ranks one and two for Turkey in the Boys with Yigit Yalcin TUR and Yilkan Timursah TUR. As best of the day, Roberto Bermudez de Castro ESP advanced on rank 3 on the last day. The two Swiss in the Goldfleet lost some ranks in the final races and are 39th (Félix Baudet SUI) abd 43rd (Joshua Richner SUI).

 420 - Coupe Internationale de Méditerrannée et de l'Amitié - Les Sablettes FRA - Final results, the Swiss The 420 CIMA in Les Sablettes FRA ended yesterday with two races sailed in moderate winds.
Enzo Balanger/Gaultier Tallieu FRA were again the best of the day with the ranks 3 and 4, finishing the competition as superior winners with a 17points' lead on Jules Devic/Tim Carpentier FRA. Philipp Royla/Kim Fernholz GER on 3rd just made the podium on the last day. Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA on rank 7 were the best Girls' team. Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid SUI on the 24th position (9th Girls) were the best Swiss. Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI followed as 29th, Morgan Lauber/Léo Tetaz SUI 36th among the 82 teams.

 Melges 24 - European Sailing Series 2017 - Portoroz SLO - Day 2, the Swiss A light up to 8 kn seabreeze filled in yesterday afternoon on Portoroz Bay allowing to complete four races. Andrea Rachelli ITA was again the day's best extending his overall lead on 17 points. New on rank 2 is Boje Pedersen DEN in his comeback after a longer absence from the Melges 24, this time with a strong team including the matchracer Joachim Aschenbrenner DEN. Akos Csolto HUN remains 3rd. Jürg Hotz SUI booked an excellent 5th race rank bringing him the 13th place overall. Michael Good SUI follows as 20th.

 Mini 650 - Pornichet Select - Pornichet FRA - Day 1, Simon Koster SUI 69 Mini 650 departed yesterday to the Pornichet Select, a solo-300-miles-race. After a slow start, the breeze filled in an the Minis are progressing at speeds above 10 knb. Leader is - as mostly - Ian Lipinski POL with his round-bow Mini 'Griffon.fr', 3 nm ahead of 'Arkema 3' with ...Vlamyinck BEL. Simon Koster SUI had a good start and occupied rank 5 with an 18 nm backlog this morning.

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Day 5, the Swiss Stormy winds inhibited racing on Thursday and part of Friday. Finally late in the afternoon, the Goldfleets could complete at least two races, with the big-breeze specialists dominating.
Yigit Yalcin TUR extended his lead in the Boys inspite of a disqualification on 15 points. Emilios Monos GRE advanced on rank 2, Yilkan Timursah TUR and the best of the day (2/1) Marcelo Cairo ESP follow at equal points on rank 3. Joshua Richner SUI folgt is 23rd and 2nd in the U16-classification. Félix Baudet SUI dropped on rank 40.
In the Girls, Federica Cattarozzi ITA won again both heats and is now 15 points in front of Shai Kakon ISR. Ilayda Veziroglu TUR advanced on rank 3. Rosine Baudet SUI follows on rank 22.

Andrea Rachelli ITA and his team have taken the lead with the day ranks 1/1/4 ahead of Geoff Carveth GBR on 2nd and Akos Csolto HUN on 3rd. Jürg Hotz SUI follows on rank 12, Michael Good SUI is 18th.

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Day 4, the Swiss Apparently, there was a lay day in Murcia ESP yesterday, as the event website does not contain any news this morning. The Qualification Series came to an end after 6 races and according to the program, 6 Final races will be held as from today. The wind forecast predicts windy conditions. The best 60 will race for the title in the Goldfleet, among them Félix Baudet SUI (rank 17) and Joshua Richner SUI (rank 21). First after the qualifications is Yigit Yalcin TUR followed by Pere Ponseti ESP and Semen Mekhanikov RUS. Among the 51 in the Women's Goldfleet is auch Rosine Baudet SUI.

It appears, that probably the wind was not stable enough for more races yesterday. The event facebook page presents at least a postponement video. First after 4 races are Balanger/Thalieu FRA. The best Swiss Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI are on the 20th place.

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Day 3, the Swiss After two light wind days, a fresh breeze filled in as predicted with over 20 kn, allowing to complete 2 races that overturned the classifications at the end of the qualifcation series.
Ygit Citak TUR, day ranks 1 and 3 in his group, has taken the overall lead in the Boys ahead of the best of the day Pere Penseti ESP (1/2) on 2nd 5 points behind the new leader. Semen Mekhanikov RUS is new on rank 3. Difficulties in the rough conditions had Félix Baudet SUI, who dropped from rank 1 on rank 17. Joshua Richner SUI follows on rank 21. Philipp Tibaldo SUI as 65th and Leonardo Finazzi SUI as 77th, two more Swiss are qualified for the Goldfleet.
Federica Catarozzi ITA has moved on top of the Girls with two race wins. Giorgia Cingolani ITA follows 3 points back. New on the 3rd place is Catherine Havenga ESP. Rosine Baudet SUI is now 16th.

 420 - Coupe Internationale de Méditerrannée et de l'Amitié - Les Sablettes FRA - Day 2, the Swiss Sun and Mistral again yesterday in the South of France, but the wind was down on 16-20 kn allowing to complete four races for the 81 boats' fleet, split in two groups.
First interim's leaders are Enzo Balanger/ Gaultier Tallieu FRA, 3 points ahead of Matisse Larnicol/Mael Morice FRA. Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI follow on rank 20, Sophie Mosegaard/Samira Rast SUI are on the 31st place. Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid SUI with good race rankings are behind for the moment with a premature start disqualification on their account.

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Day 2, the Swiss The Laser 4.7 Youth European Championship continued yesterday with two races sailed in light and shifty winds.
As best of the day with the ranks 1 and 3, Félix Baudet SUI has taken the lead in the Boys ahead of Jack Littlechild AUS and Niccolo Nordera ITA at equal points on rank 2. Joshua Richner SUI advanced on rank 18, Leonardo Finazzi SUI follows on the 20th place among the 238 participants.
Giorgia Cingolani ITA extended her lead in the Girls with two race wins on 5 points. Varvara Baxevani GRE and Maria Mateo-Feragut ESP are the first challengers. With the day ranks 4 and 5, Rosine Baudet SUI moved up on rank 11.

 Laser 4.7 - European Championship 2017 - Murcia ESP - Day 1, the Swiss The Laser 4.7 European Championship began yesterday in Murcia ESP with 350 participants from 25 nations and 3 continents. Both fleets completed 2 races.
Giorgia Cingolani ITA took the lead in the Girls ahead of Federica Cattarozzi ITA and Eline Verstraelen BEL. Rosine Baudet SUI on rank 20 is the 5-best in the U16 classification.
In the Boys' fleet, split in 4 groups, Semen Krivobokov RUS is on top closely followed by Emmanouil Kollias GRE and Niccolo Nordera ITA. The best Swiss Joshua Richner SUI is on the 17th place.

 29er - Eurocup 2017 - Cavalaire FRA - Final results, the Swiss The 29er Eurocup Regatta in the South of France was concluded yesterday with three Final races.
Théo Revil/Gautier Guevel FRA dominated again with the ranks 1/2/4 and finished as superior winners with a 14 points' advantage on Andres Barrio/Nestor Vega ESP. On the 3rd place followed Rok Verderber/Klemens Semelbauer SLO. Ilona Wehrlen/Benoît Leuenberger SUI defended their 24th position in the 102 boats' fleet.

 Diam 24, J/80, var. classes - Spi Ouest - Quiberon FRA - Final results, the Swiss Light winds prevailed on the last day of the Spi Ouest competition on Morbihan Gulf yesterday. 17 keelboat and multihull classes participated.
Clear winner in the 33 Diam-24-trimarans was Mathieu Salomon FRA ahead of the Paralympic Champion Damien Séguin FRA. On the 3rd place followed Sofian Bouvet FRA. Bernard Stamm SUI advanced on rank 9 on the last day. Victor Casas SUI is on the 17th rank.
The former Finn Olympic Champion Jose-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP was the dominting winner in the J/80.

Laser 4.7 & Radial - Youth Easter Meeting - Malcesine ITA - Final results, the Swiss

 Laser 4.7 & Radial - Youth Easter Meeting - Malcesine ITA - Final results, the Swiss Almost 200 Lasers participated in the Youth Easter Meeting on Lake Garda, and both classes - the 4.7s and Radials - completed 7 races in perfect Garda conditions with sun an a good thermal breeze.
First in the Lasers 4.7 was Chiara Benini ITA with a solid 13 points' advantage on Gregorio Moreschi ITA. Paolo Freddi ITA followed on rank 3.
In the Lasers Radial, the local Emil Toblini ITA was the winner ahead of Danil Krutskikh RUS and Federico Benamati ITA. Damian Suri SUI finished on the good 16th place, Zeno Fry SUI followed on the 34th position among the 123 participants.

 Windsurfing - Marco Polo Cup - Slalom - Hyères FRA - Final results, the Swiss Two Slalom races were completed on Easter Sunday on Almanarre Bay off Hyères FRA in a moderate 18 kn Mistral without major changes in the rankings.
Jordy Vonk NED is the clear overall winner ahead of Ethan Westera NED/Aruba and Sebastian Kördel GER. Daniel Aeberli SUI on the 4th place and Richard Stauffacher SUI as 5th are the best Swiss. Karin Jaggi SUI (rank 29) is on top of the women's rankings.

 Optimist - Lake Garda Meeting - Riva del Garda ITA - Final results, the Swiss The 2017 Lake Garda Optimist Meeting, attended by a record fleet of 1067 Optimists (!), was concluded yesterday with two Final races.
After winning the first one, Stephen Baker USA booked his worst result (rank 55) in the last race, but nevertheless, he remained the superior overall winner 8 points ahead of Florian Krauss GER. Dmitry Ladzin RUS advanced on rank 3. The best girl Alexandra Lukoyanova RUS is on the 22nd position. Here the Goldfleet ranking list. The best Swiss Yannik Kuster SUI finished on the 108th place in the Bronzefleet (= 424th overall).
Maria Arseni ITA just defended her first place in the younger Cadetti one point ahead of Alex Demurtas ITA 2. The best Swiss Ikke Huber SUI is on rank 80.

Matthieu Salomon FRA extended his lead in the Diam 24 trimarans to 12 points, ahead of Damien Seguin FRA who advanced on rank 2. Bernard Stamm SUI is now on the 10th place. Victor Casas SUI follows on the 18th position.
In the J/80, José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP has now a 30 points' lead on the second.

 Optimist - Lake Garda Meeting - Riva del Garda ITA - Day 3, the Swiss A classic Lake Garda thermal breeze prevailed again yesterday at the Optimist Garda Meeting and all groups sailed two races in 16-18 kn.
In the elder Juniores (773 participants from 35 nations), Stephen Baker USA extended his overall lead with two bullets in his group. Valentin Müller GER and Jonathan Steidle GER follow at equal points on rank 2. Viktoria Liksanova RUS on the 12th place is the best girl. Today, last day of the Meeting, the best 157 boats sail in the Goldfleet for victory. Yannik Kuster SUI on the 407th position will start in the Bronzefleet.
In the younger Cadetti, Maria Ardeni ITA defended her first place, but Mustafa Öztuncel TUR reduced the backlog to the leader on one point. Patryk Chelkowski POL follows now on rank 3. Ikke Huber SUI, the best Swiss, is on the 409th place.

 470 - Coupe Internationale de Printemps - Marseillan FRA - Day 3, the Swiss Four races were held yesterday on the Etang de Thau in moderate winds.
Hippolyte Macchetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA have taken the overal lead 7 points ahead of Philippe/Mion FRA and Kliger/Miho ISR/JPN. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI did not compete as the dislocated to Hyères to prepare for the Olympic Classes Worldcup. Ranked 13th now, they will loose more places today. Linda fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI won a race yesterday, but a premature start disqualification and an abandoned race relegated the on the 15th position.

 29er - Eurocup 2017 - Cavalaire FRA - Day 2, the Swiss 102 teams from 15 nations sailed 3 races so far at the 29er Eurocup in Cavalaire FRA (between Hyères and St-Tropez).
With two race wins in their group, Théo Revil/Gautier Guevel FRA have taken the overall lead one point ahead of Nordenram/Pantzare SWE, Ilona Werlen/Benoît Leuenberger SUI had a good first day with a 3rd race rank in their group, bringing them on the 16th place overall.

 Diam 24, J/80, var. classes - Spi Ouest - Quiberon FRA - Day 2, the Swiss At the 'Spi Ouest' regatta, perfect conditions prevailed again yesterday four the numerous classes with sun and a 15-18 kn wind.
The Diam-24-Ttimarans completed 4 races. With two race wins, Mathieu Salomon FRA and his team took the overall lead. Bernard Stamm SUI descended on the 9th place, while Victor Casas SUI moved up on the 17th rank. Nelson Mettraux SUI follows as 26th.
In the J/80 fleet (66 participants), Jose-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP - Olympic Finn Champion 1992 - won 5 of the 8 races sailed so far.
