470 - Japan Championship 2017 - Enoshima JPN - Day 2, the Swiss

 470 - Japan Championship 2017 - Enoshima JPN - Day 2, the Swiss Three races were held at the 470 Japan Nationals in moderate winds and the discard result was activated. Local teams are on the first three places with Tetsuya Isozaki/Akira Takayanagi JPN as first after two race wins and a second rank in their Group. The favorites and multiple Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS follow on the 4th place. Silvia Mas/Paula Barcelo ESP on the 9th position are the best 470 women team. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI deliver a solid performance and are on the 16th place overall on a clear Goldfleet path among the 112 teams. Impressive the big number of Japanese 470s !

Windsurfing - Slalom und Formula Swiss Championship - Silvaplana - Final results

 Windsurfing - Slalom und Formula Swiss Championship - Silvaplana - Final results As already on Saturday, a Northwind was blowing down from the Julier Pass across the small Lake Silvaplana, and after the cancellation of the Jubilee Engadine Surf Marathon, the final Slalom and Formula races had to be cancelled as well.
After seven runs, Wojtek Brzozowski POL won the Formula Championship ahead of Elia Colombo SUI and Richard Stauffacher. In the women, Franziska Stauffacher SUI was first ahead of Karin Jaggi SUI. Only two Slalom heats were completed and the podiums are in the men's Sebastian Kördel GER ahead of Jordy Vonk NED and Richard Stauffacher SUI, in the women's Karin Jaggi SUI ahead of Elena De Geus NED and Franziska Stauffacher SUI.

Optimist - Annual Points' Championship 2017 - Davoser SSC - Final results

 Optimist - Annual Points' Championship 2017 - Davoser SSC - Final results Cool temperatures but good wind conditions prevailed at the Optimist Points' Championship Regatta on Lake Davos (5'000 ft above s/l). Winner after 6 races was Maxime Thommen YCZ clearly ahead of Lisa Gailland CVVT and Maxim Dneprov SCC. The best of the younger Group B was Lars Dittel BT on the 12th place overall among the 119 participants.

 Star - Grimsel-Race - Top of Grimsel -Pass - Final results After the fog dispelled, 5 more races could be sailed on Lake Death on top of the Grimsel Pass (7'100 ft), three of them won by Bernhard and Sophie Seger RCO who climbed on rank 1 overall, just one point ahead of Ben Sternberg/Joshua Revkin USA. Martin Ingold/Dario Bischof TYC followed on rank 3 among the 10 teams.

470 - Japanese Championship 2017 - Enoshima JPN - Day 1, the Swiss

 470 - Japanese Championship 2017 - Enoshima JPN - Day 1, the Swiss As a tune-up to the 470 Junior World Championship taking place on the 2020 Olympic waters in Tokyo JPN on the coming weekend, the 470 Japan National Championship began yesterday. 110 teams from 25 nations, among them the double Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS are on the entry list.
One race was sailed on the opening day, the fleet split in three Groups with Daichi Takayama/Kimihiko Imamura JPN, Tetsuya Isozaki/Akira Takayanagi JPN and Lucas Calabrese/Ian Macdiarmid USA as winners. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI finished 11th of their Group. The ranking list.

Drachen - European Championship 2017 - Thun SUI - Final results, the Swiss

 Drachen - European Championship 2017 - Thun SUI - Final results, the Swiss Sufficient wind to complete two races prevailed on the final day of the Dragon European Championship on Lake Thoune yesterday. With the fresher breeze and the discard in effect, the ranking list changed substantially.
The new European Champions are Petro Andrade POR/ Bernardo Torres POR/Charles Nankin BRA sailing under GER flag. Dimitri Samokhin RUS, winner of the Swiss Championship a week ago, advanced on rank 2. Jewgenij Braslavets UKR and his team, sailing under UAE flag (United Arab Emirates) earned Bronze. The previous leaders Markus Brennecke/Jochen Schümann/ Ingo Borowski GER dropped on rank 5 as best Germans. The best Swiss Jürg Wittwer/Thomas Dührsen/Bernhard Wohlwend SUI followed on rank 16 among the 60 teams.

 Star - Grimsel-Race - Grimsel-Pass SUI - Day 1 The weather change over Switzerland influenced obviously also the conditions on the Alps. A thick fog delayed the start of the first race, but after a while, two races could be completed, with the finish of the second one again in a thick fog.
With the ranks 1 and 3, Ben Sternberg/Joshua Revkin USA took the overall lead ahead of Roman Timm/Kaspar Huber SCMd and Bernhard Sofie Seger RCO at equal points on the ranks 2 and 3. 10 Starboats particiipate .... there is no room for more on the small Lake Death on top of the Grimsel Pass (7'100 ft a.s/l).  8mJI - World Championship 2017 - Hanko NOR - Final results, the Swiss Fresh winds of up to 20 kn prevailed on the last day of the 8mIJ World Championship in Hankö NOR, but the podium did not change.
Avia Wilment GBR on the only (2014) boat underway was the clear winner ahead of Werner Deuring GER, winner of the 'SIRA' rankings for yachts built before 1960. Lars Ingeberg NOR defended the 3rd place. Terry McLaughlin CAN is on rank 5. HM King Harald of Norway (age 80) finished on the good 6th position. Angelo Mazzarella SUI advanced on rank 8 as best Swiss. Fred Meyer SUI terminated the Championship on rank 14.

 SRS - La Galérienne - GCN Auvernier A big fleet paricipated yesterday in the Galérienne in Auvernier/Lake Nechâtel.
In the TCF1,2 and X-rankings (14 teams), Jean-Louis Frei BT finished first with his Luthi ahead of Jacques Blanc MY on a Farr 280 and Michel Matthey on a Luthi 38'2. In the TCF3 4-rankings (14 teams), Tom Studer CVN on his Dolphin finished first ahead of André Bechler WCM on a Brenta 30. In the not measured boats (12 teams), Beat Furrer AVP on his 6mIJ finished first.

 Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2017 - Medemblik NED - Final results - the Swiss After the excellent Swiss results in the qualifications, sailed in light winds, most had a major setback in the final series in fresh winds. Only Grégoire Peverelli SUI with a 10th place yesterday could stay in the top-10 finishing 9th overall. Nicolas Rolaz SUI dropped on rank 30, Gauthier Verhulst SUI was 59th, Lino Kersting SUI followed as 62nd and Félix Baudet on the 65th place.

Stephan Link GER (with Frank Butzmann GER) was the winner advancing on rank 3 overall.  Laser - Euro-Masters - Vidy SUI - Day 1, the Swiss The Swiss Round of the 2017 Euromasters began yesterday on Lake Geneva in light winds and all fleets completed one race in a 5 kn breeze.
In the Lasers Standard (16 participants/3 nations), Wolfgang Gerz GER was first ahead of Yan Perret SUI and Reinhard Noack GER, the best in the Radials (10 participants/4 nations) was Marco Casalini GER. Ute Noack GER and Corinne Lavalle FRA follow on the ranks 2 and 3. The best Swiss Jacquers Perret SUI was on rank 4.

Windsurfing - Formula Swiss Championship 2017 - Silvaplana - Day 5

 Windsurfing - Formula Swiss Championship 2017 - Silvaplana - Day 5 The Maloja wind was only moderate yesterday but neverthess allowing to continue the Windsurf Week with the Formula as well as the Windsurf Foil Racing Swiss Championships with four heats each.
In the Formula competition, Wojtek Brozowski POL leads ahead of Elia Colombo SUI and Richard Stauffacher SUI. In the women's rankings, Franziska Stauffacher SUI is first ahead of Karin Jaggi SUI and Marion Froidevaux SUI - The ranking list.
First in the Foil-Windsurfers is Gonzalo Costa ARG ahead of Alexandre Cousin FRA. The only Swiss among the 14 participants is Balz Müller SUI on rank 13 - The ranking list.
Today, the Engadine Surf Marathon is on the program. Prominent drivers participate in the 40 Years' Jubliee event as the preview on the event website reveals.

 Star - Grimsel-Race - Grimsel-Passhöhe - Start today The always innovative Starfleet Basle opened a new saiing venue in Switzerland: the Totensee (Lake of death), a reservoir lake on top of the Grimsel pass 7100 ft above sea level. Ten teams - among them Ben Sternberg/Joshua Revking USA - fight for the Fleet Champions' title. Normally, a solid 3 to 5 bft wind is blowing, and it remains to be seen whether the weather change of yesterday evening with a cold front passing - with snow above 6500 ft, has a negative influence on the sailing conditions.

Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2017 - Medemblik NED - Day 5, the Swiss

 Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2017 - Medemblik NED - Day 5, the Swiss Weather change in the Netherlands for the Final Series races with rain and a fresher 12 - 15 kn wind causing a number of changes in the overall rankings.
Guido Galinaro ITA, the solid leader in the Boys fleet so far finished 34th and 31st and descended on rank 3. Matias Dietrich ARG is now on top but the day's best (5/1) Yoshihiro Suzuki JPN is only one point behind. At equal points with Galinaro ITA follow Josh Armit NZL and Dimitris Papadimitriou GRE on the ranks 4 and 5. Grégoire Peverelli SUI dropped on rank 7 and also the other Swiss in the Goldfleet could not confirm their light-wind results. Nicolas Rolaz SUI is now 17th, Félix Baudet SUI follows on rank 40, Lino Kersting SUI is 59th and Gauthier Verhulst SUI follows on rank 68.
First in the Girls is now Hannah Anderssohn GER 3 points ahead of Dolores Moreira-Fraschini URU. Julia Büsselberg GER descended on rank 3. With the ranks 1 and 2, Charlotte Rose USA moved up on rank 4.

 A-Cat - Polish National Championship 2017 - Sopot POL - Final results, the Swiss The Polish A-Cat Championship in Sopot POL ended yesterday with two races sailed in moderate winds. On Monday, the World Championship will begin at the same venue.
The domination of the Polish cracks during the first two days ended yesterday as Manuel Calavia ESP won both heats and earned Gold ahead fo Jakub Surowiec POL Silver and Tymoteusz Bendyk POL Bronze. The best Swiss Daniel Caviezel SUI advanced on rank 12, Luc du Bois SUI followed as 15th, Nils Palmieri SUI as 18th among the 62 participants.

 Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2017 - Medemblik NED - Day 4, the Swiss The Qualification Series at the Laser Radial Worlds on the Ijsselmeer were concluded yesterday with three races per fleet sailed in sun an moderate winds from 8 to 12 kn.
Guido Gallinaro ITA keeps on dominating the men's fleet winning 6 of the 7 races sailed so far in his Group and his advantage on Matias Dietrich ARG is now 16 points. Only one point further behind follows Grégoire Peverelli SUI (ranks 1/2 yesterday). Qualified for the Goldfleet are also Nicolas Rolaz SUI (rank 24), Lino Kersting SUI (rank 45), Félix Baudet SUI (rank 50) and Gauthier Verhulst SUI (rank 59.
In the women's fleet, Julia Büsselberg GER is on top one point ahead of Hannah Anderssohn GER. The Olympian Dolores Moreira URU follows on rank 3 with a 4 points' backlog.

 A-Cat - Polish National Championship 2017 - Sopot POL - Day 2, the Swiss Only one race could be sailed yesterday in light winds and Tymoteusz Cierzan POL was the winner moving up on rank 7 overall. Jakub Surowiec POL stayed on rank 1 ahead of Jacek Noetzel POL new on rank 2. Bob Baier GER finished 2nd yesterday and advanced on the 4th place as best non-Polish. The defending World Champion Mischa Heemskerk NED follows on rank 6. The best Swiss is now Nils Palmieri SUI with a 4th race rank moving up on rank 12 overall. 12. Luc du Bois SUI abandoned the race and dropped on rank 24.

A-Cat - Polish Championship - Sopot POL - Day 1 - Luc Dubois SUI is back

 A-Cat - Polish Championship - Sopot POL - Day 1 - Luc Dubois SUI is back Switzerland is represented with 11 participants at the forthcoming high-class A-Cat World Championship with 144 A-Cats on the entry list. After some years' absence, Luc Dubois SUI (age 55) is back in the racing scene and started well to the Polish Championship as 11th after the first day.
The former Optimist, Laser and 470 Swiss Champion and 1984 Olympian, he has been with the avantgard of technology developments in sailing for over 30 years. In the 80ies of last century, he invented the 3D-technology for sails, laminating the sails of his 470 in the cellar of his parents' home. He was immediately hired by North USA where he organised the production process for 3D sails. As 'Speedmaster', he was responsible at 'Alinghi' for the boat performance. As a member of the 'Team New Zealand' Tech Crew, he was involved in the development of the foiling/flying AC-catamaran for San Francisco. In the past four years, he was engaged by the 'BAR Team' of Ben Ainslie GBR.
His performance in the comeback on the A-Cat will be followed with interest.

 Surprise - Swiss Championship 2017 - RV Brunnen - Final results Perfect thermal breeze conditions prevailed on the last day of the Surprise Swiss Championship on Lake Uri. Two races were held and the ranks 5 and 2 were good enough for Eric Monnin YCI and his family team to add another Surprise Champion's title to his palmares. Guillaume Girod SNG followed on rank 2, Emanuel Müller YCB and his team finished 3rd.

 Dragon - European Championship 2017 - Thun SUI - Day 1 Very light and circling winds before an upcoming thunderstorm front did not allow to race yesterday at the Dragon European Championship on Lake Thoune and the 67 teams from 14 nations were back in the harbour without results by the end of the afternoon. All three heats were won by Wojtek Brozowski POL ahed of Alexandre Cousin FRA and Richard Stauffacher SUI.  Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2017 - Medemblik NED - Day 2 - Schweizer Tag ! Excellent performance of the Swiss Youth Team on the second day of the Youth Worlds in Medemblik NED. Grégoire Peverelli SUI advanced on the 4th place in the Boys overall rankings with the day ranks 1 and 2. Gauthier Verhulst SUI (yesterday 6/2) is now 12tj and 2nd in the U17-rankings. The past-Optimist World Champion Nicolas Rolaz SUI finished 4th and 6th and moved up on rank 18 overall. Lino Kersting SUI with a 5th race rank in his Group advanced on rank 54, Nicholas Davies SUI follows on rank 59 and Félix Baudet SUI is 71st among the 273 participants.

 Surprise - Swiss Championship 2017 - RV Brunnen - Day 2 Top thermal breeze conditions prevailed also on the second day of the Surprise Swiss Championship on Lake Uri allowing to complete three more races. Unfortunately, there is now updated ranking list on the event website. Fortunately enough, the leading Eric Monnin SUI (thanks Eric) took a photo snapshot of the first part of the ranking list with 12 of the 29 teams racing.

 Musto-Skiff, Tempest - Regatta-Weekend - SC Sihlsee Both classes sailed six races on Lake Sihl each in a well-established thermal breeze.
Pierre-Yves Pfirter CNM succeeded to defeat the year-long dominator of the Class Roger Oswald SCE in the Musto-Skiffs. Alexander Greil YCH finished 3rd in the 14 boats' fleet.
In the Tempests, Cornelia and Ruedi Christen TYC were the winners ahead of Maria Suter/Andreas Hochuli SCH and Rolf and Urs Hunkeler RVB.

 Olympic Classes - Test Event - Aarhus DEN - Final results - Victory for Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI ! Finihing only on rank 8 in the double-points' Medal Race sailed in gusts of up to 20 kn, Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI just defended their first place in the 470 women with one point against the Polish World Champions. In the 10 races sailed in varying conditions, the Lake Thoune girls demonstrated their World class in light winds and the three race wins were the basis for their success. They can plan for the 2018 World Championship here in Aarhus, the nations' 2020 Olympic berth qualification event, with confidence.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Final results, the Swiss The 420/470 Junior European Championship on Lake Garda ended yesterday with the Medal Races for the 470 men and women as well as additional races for the rest of the fleets.
Maria Bozi/Rafailina Klonaridou GRE defended their first place in the 470 women Medal Race winning the title ahead of Marina Lefort/Lara Granier FRA. Luise und Helena Wanser GER earned Bronze.
In the 470 men, Giacomo Ferrari/Giulio Calabro ITA were the premature Champions before the Medal Race already. Hyppolyte Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA won Silver, Bronze went to Maor Abu/Yoav Rooz ISR. The two Swiss development teams finished on the ranks 19 (Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI) and - with a 6th race rank yesterday - 20 (David Biedermann/Jann Schüpbach SUI) in the 55 boats' fleet.
In the 420s, Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP were the superior winners with a 37 points' lead on Dylan Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA on rank 2. Edoardo Ferraro/Francesco Orlando ITA finished 3rd and earned the European Championship Silver Medal. The 4th-ranked Athanasopoulos/Tassios GRE took the Europeans' Bronze Medal. Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI, the only Swiss in the Goldfleet, finished the Championship on rank 41 among the 110 teams.

In the Radial men, Caelin Winchcombe AUS, Nicholas Bezy HKG and Matias Dietrich ARG share the lead with the ranks 1 and 3 each. The best Swiss Grégoire Peverelli SUI is on rank 18 among the 273 participants. In the U17-rankings, Josh Armit NZL leads ahead of Sofiane Karim FRA. Gautier Verhulst SUI is on the excellent 4th place.
Lin Pletikos SLO is the sole leader in the Radial women 2 points ahead of Julia Büsselberg GER. Ekaterina Bereza RUS and Annabelle Westerhof NED share rank 3. No Swiss among the 107 participants. First in the U-17 Girls' rankings are Matilda Nicholls GBR and Florence Parmentier GER at equal points.

 Classes ACVL - Mi-été 2017 en double - CV Villeneuve Last Saturday, 42 teams participated in the Mid-Summer Regatta for two-person teams of the Cercle de la Voile de Villeneuve on the upper Lake Geneva.
The line honoursemps réel went to the Luthi F10 with Pierre Gotterux/Philippe Laperche CVVT after 4H35. In the TCF1+2 rankings, Pascal Lavarello/Stéphane Wohnlich CVVC finished first on their Lavarello 823. Among the 18 TCF3 participants, the winner was the 6.5 SI of Frédéric Reymond/Aude Genton CVL.

 Olympic Classes - Test Event - Aarhus DEN - Day 6 - the Swiss With the day ranks 1/2/6, Lind Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI extended their overall lead in the 470 women on 7 points and have good chances to win the test event in today's Medal Race.
Thanks to a good 4th place in the Medal Race, Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI advanced on rank 9 in the RS:X men windsurfers.
After a rather discrete competition, Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI had an impressive last day with the ranks 1 and 5 and finished 14th overall in the 470 men. Eliot Merceron SUI, for the first time starting for Switzerland, lost some ranks in the Lasers Standard and finished the series on the 28th place.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 4, the Swiss The 470s finished their Qualifications for the Medal Race and the 420 split in a Gold- and a Silverfleet sailed two more races in an unconstant Ora.
With a 37 points' advantage, Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP will take the 420 title in today's two last races without problems. Dylan Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA on rank 2 have a 10 points advance on the 3rd-ranked Athanasopoulos/Tassios GRE. Ferraro/Orlando ITA 2 points back have also chance for a Medal. Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI, the only SUI-team in the Goldfleet, lost some places and are now 44th.
The situation in the two 470 fleets remains open. In the 470 women, the first four teams are separated by 6 points only. Bozi/Klonaridou GRE are 3 points ahead of Wanser/Wanser GER - best of the day yesterday. Bergström/ Karlsson SWE and Lefort/Granier FRA follow closely behind.
In the 470 men, Ferrari/Calabro ITA on top are on the safe side before the Medal Race with a 19 points advantage on Machetti/Dantes FRA. But the fight for Silver and Bronze is still open with Abu/Rooz ISR only 3 points back. After a good day with the ranks 6 and 7, Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI moved up on rank 15 and can even improve more in today's sail-off.

 Dragon - Swiss Championship 2017 - Thunersee YC - Final results The Dragon Swiss Championship was concluded yesterday with two races sailed in a moderate wind. Winning the first race, Dmitri Samokhin RUS and his team did not sail the last race nevertheless winning the title with a 15 points' advantage on Norbert Stadler SUI and his crew on 2nd. Christoph Wieland GER and his team finished on 3rd. Andy Beadsworth GBR, sailing for the Turkish 'Provezza' team, lost two places after Blackflag disqualification and ends up on rank 5.
Next Tuesday, the European Championship will begin at the same venue with 65 boats on the entry list .

 J/70 - Sailing Champions League, Act 1 - St.Petersburg RUS - Day 2, the Swiss Act 1 of the Champions' League 2017 continued on the Neva River downtown St-Petersburg RUS yesterday with 6 races sailed in a 13-15 kn wind and again a strong current. Thanks to 4 race wins, the Swedish Fredrikshaven SK took the overall lead 1,2 points ahead of Lorenzo Bressani ITA and his CC Ansiene-Team. The St-Petersburg YC defended the 3rd place, the SR Antibes remains on 4th. Julian Flessati SUI won two races as well and is on rank 6 with his RC Bodensee team. Stefan Seger SUI and the RC Oberhofen are now 18th.

In the Petite Final, Anna Östling SWE had the upper-hand on the Round-Robin winner Trine Palludan DEN with 2-0. Good conditions prevailed on Lake Constance on Thursday at the Night & Day Regatta of the Altnauer SC and Kai Naef SUI finished the race with his M2-catamaran in less than an hour. 2 minutes later followed Sammy Smits on an M2-Cat as well. Winner in the yardstick 1 classification was Patrick Maurer on an JS Formel 20. First in the Yardstick 2 classification was Felix Schrimper GER on a Dyas.

 Olympic Classes - Test Event - Aarhus DEN - Day 5 - the Swiss The four Swiss boats remained ashore yesterday due to lack of sufficient wind.
The qualification phase was nevertheless concluded for the RS:X windsurfers and Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI on rank 10 is just qualified for today's Medal Race. Linda Fahrni/Mana Siegenthaler SUI on top of the 470 women will try to extend their 5 points' lead in the last qualification races today. With a 15 points' deficit on rank 10, Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI still have a long way to go to the 470 men Medal Race, a difficult task. Eliot Merceron SUI in his first start for the Swiss Team in the Lasers Standard is on rank 25 and will not make the Medal Race this time, but in the high-quality fleet, his goal must be to finish in the top-20. There is nevertheless a Swiss highlight to note: Chris Rast (TYC), Swiss-American citizen and two-times Olympian, is about to start another Olympia campaign in the 49ers, this time with Trevor Burd USA as crew. As best of the day yesterday, they advanced on rank 3 overall.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 4, the Swiss The 470s could not sail on Thursday due to lack of wind and were therefore called early yesterday to sail a race in the morning Northwind. In the afternoon, all classes sailed the full program in a well-established Ora breeze.
The 420s completed two races and inspite of medium race ranks (14/16), Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP defended their huge lead (21 points). New on rank 2 are now Dylan Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA. On rank 3 follow Edoardo Ferraro/Francesco Orlando ITA. Thanks of a 7th race rank, Nick Zeltner/Till Sger SUI moved up 20 ranks and are now on the 35th position. Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid SUI are on the 6th place in the Silverfleet (= 61st overall).
As best of the day Maria Bozi/Rafailina Klonardiou GRE took the overall lead in the 470 women ahead of Beste Kaynakci/Simay Aslan TUR at equal points. 4 points behind follow Marina Lefort/Lara Granier FRA on 3rd.
In the 470 men, Hyppolite Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA lead now one point ahead of Giacomo Ferraro/Giulio Calabro ITA. Ben Hazeldine/Ryan Orr GBR on the 3rd place are already 20 points back.  420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 3, the Swiss To conclude the qualifications for the Goldfleet, the 109 420 teams had an early wake up call yesterday with a first start at 8 a.m. CET. The Northwind - called Vento or Peler - filled in perfectly with up to 25 kn and two races could be completed.
Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP went on with their perfect series extending their lead on Athanasopoulos/Tassios GRE and Wisokinski/Jankowski POL at equal points to 22 points. Kaiser/Störr GER on rank 4 are only one point further back. As 55th, Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI just made the cut for the Goldfleet. All other Swiss teams will continue the Championship in the Silverfleet.
The upcoming rain impeded racing in the afternoon not only for the 420s but also the 470s inactive during the whole day. After 4 races, Kaynakci/Aslan TUR lead in the 470 women, and Ferrari/Calabro ITA in the 470 men.

The elder Juniores completed three races and Billy Romain FRA is the first interim's leader with the ranks 6/2/1 in his Group ahead of Andrea Manhes FRA, the best Girl, on rank 2 and Lorenzo Pezzilli ITA and Adriaan Ouwerkerk NED tied on the ranks 3 and 4. Noë Herrmann SUI follows on rank 17 among the 210 participants from 12 nations (including Kuweit).
In the younger Cadetti, Mose Bellami ITA leads after two races ahead of Marco Francescini ITA. Matthew Chassot SUI is 24th as best Swiss in the 180 boats' fleet from 10 nations.

Match Racing - Women's International Match Racing Series - Lyseskill SWE - Day 2, Alexa Betzel SUI

Yesterday, the Round Robin of the Women's Matchrace Series was concluded in Sweden and the four best Trine Palludan DEN, Pauline Courtois FRA, Renée Groeneveld NED and Caroline Sylvan SWE qualified directly for the Quarter Finals. Alexa Bezel SUI missed the direct qualification by one point only and she will have to sail the Repechage together with the remaining seven teams for the four places left. Three flights were sailed so far and Alexa is on the 4th place with a 1-1 score, just anough to qualify.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 2, the Swiss Unconstant conditions prevailed also on the second day of the 420/470 Europeans on Lake Garda, and the Ora was not really well established.
Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE took the overall lead in the 420s ahead of Tom Collyer/Aaron Chatwick GBR, best of the day with the ranks 2/2. On the 3rd place followed Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP. Nick Zeltner/Till Seger SUI had an 18th race rank but also a DNE (non discardable) disqualification penalty and dived on rank 65 overall. The best Swiss are now Achille Casco/Manuel Herbst SUI on rank 51. Today, the last qualification races for the Goldfleet, the best 55, will be sailed. Florian Geissbühler/Livio Erni SUI on rank 60 are 4 points from the cut, and also Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid SUI 11 points back can still hope for the Goldfleet.
In the 470 men, the leaders Ferrari/Calabro ITA remain on top one point ahead of Macchetti/Dantes FRA. Hazeldine/Orr GBR are new on rank 3.  Dart 18 - World Championship 2017 - Scharbeutz GER - Day 5, the Swiss Yesterday was the lay day for the 83 teams at the Dart Worlds on the Baltic Sea. Today and tomorrow will be the crucial days for the outcome of the Championship. Dave and Louis Roberts GBR are in pole position with a solid 9 points lead on Jörg and Arne Gosche GER but the fight for the medals is still open and even Michiel Fehr/Andri Fries SUI with a 27 points' backlog can hope for a medal with four races to go.

Match Racing - Women's International Match Racing Series - Lyseskil SWE - Day 1, Alex Betzel SUI

Round 2 of the Internationalen Women's Matchrace Circuit began two days ago in Sweden. After a first day with little wind only, the full program could be sailed yesterday in sun and moderate winds. Trine Palludan DEN leads in the Round Robin ranking with a 4-0 score. Renée Groenveld NED und Pauline Courtois FRA follow with 3-1 each. Alexa Bezel SUI is on rank 6 with a 3-3 result.
