420, 470 - National Printemps/CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 4, the Swiss

 420, 470 - National Printemps/CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 4, the Swiss The perfect sailing conditions stayed on yesterday at the 420/470 CIMA, where the 470 'National Printemps' ended to allow the teams qualified for the Hyères Worldcup event to move on to the Côte d'Azur to be ready next Sunday.
Hippolyte Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA were the clear winner after 10 races in the 470s with a 19 points' advantage on Kevin Peponnet/Jérémie Mion FRA. On rank 3 followed Gelson Dzioubanov/Gustavo Thiensen BRA. Jennifer Poret/Camille Hautefaye FRA on rank 8 were the best women team. The best Swiss Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI were on the 6th place. David Biedermann/Jann Schüpbach SUI followed as 16th.
The 420s continue the regatta today and tomorrow, split after 5 races sailed in a Gold- and Silverfleet. Solenza Mariani/Clara Olive FRA are 3 points ahead of Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA on 2nd before the final races. Tom Marson/Victor Herbert FRA advanced on rank 3. The best Swiss are now Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid SUI on rank 23. Zeltner/Seger SUI and Schärer/Burkhard SUI follow on the ranks 26 and 27.

Match Racing - Congressional Cup - Long Beach CA, USA - Day 1, with Eric Monnin SUI

Yesterday in Long Beach CA was day one of the 54th edition of the Congressional Cups with Round Robin 1, where 6 of the 9 flights were completed. Dean Barker NZL in his comeback was the outstanding dominator winning all six matches. With 4-2 wins followed Johnie Berntsson SWE, Taylor Canfield ISV and Sam Gilmour AUS on rank 2. Eric Monnin SUI is on rank 7 with a 2-4 score and a win over the World number 2 Taylor Canfield ISV as highlight.

420, 470 - Nationale Printemps CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 2, the Swiss

 420, 470 - Nationale Printemps CIMA - Martigues FRA - Day 2, the Swiss Since last Sunday, the 420s and 470s have been sailing the CIMA, the national spring championship, and both classes completed 5 races so far. In the 470s, a number of overseas' teams participate on their way from Palma to Hyères (starting next Sunday).
Hippolyte Maccheti/Sidoine Dantes FRA lead in the 470s with a 6 points' advantage on Kevin Peponnet/Jérémy Mion FRA. Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI are on the excellent 3rd place among the 30 teams from 10 nations.
In the 420s, female teams are in front with Solenza Mariani/Clara Olive FRA one point ahead of Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA. The best Swiss team Sophie Mosegaard/Fiona Schater SUI follow on the 20th rank. Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid SUI are 26th in the 67 teams' fleet.

Diam 24 - Grand Prix de l'Atlantique - Pornichet FRA - Final results - Victory for Bernard Stamm SUI, the Swiss

 Diam 24 - Grand Prix de l'Atlantique - Pornichet FRA - Final results - Victory for Bernard Stamm SUI, the Swiss With three months to go to the start of the 2018 Tour de France, the activity of the Diam-24 Class has been increasing. Two weeks after the Spi Ouest Regatta, the GP Atlantique was organised in Pornichet FRA over the past weekend, the first of three events counting for the annual championship. After two light-wind days, a fresher 16-18kn breeze filled in on the final day, and 9 short-races as well as a coastal race were held.
Winning for heats, Bernard Stamm/Jean-Christophe Mourniac/Antoine Rucard SUI were the overall winners one point head of 'Oman Sail' with Stevie Morrison GBR. On rank 3 followed Valentin Bellet FRA. The two teams of the CER Genève showed a good performance with Victor Casas SUI and Nelson Mettraux SUI on the ranks 8 and 9 among the 26 teams. The all-female team of Sophie de Turckheim FRA with a.o. Nathalie Brugger SUI followed closely behind.

A-Cat, F16-, F18-Catamaran - Cat Weekend - YC Spiez - Final results

 A-Cat, F16-, F18-Catamaran - Cat Weekend - YC Spiez - Final results The traditional Cat Weekend in Spiez on last Saturday was sailed in good conditions with three races.
In the A-Cats (11 participants), Loïc Dony FRA was the winner two points ahead of the tied duo Dominik Peikert YCZ and Sandro Caviezel YCAs.
In the Junior Cats (6 teams), Maho Cherel/Nella Montandon CNBC finished first.
In the C1-rankings (F18,F20,F16,..), Jean-Richard Minardi/Andrea Lutz VLM were on top.

 Star - Western Hemisphere Championship 2018 - Key Biscayne FL, USA - Final results, the Swiss The two final races of the 2018 Star Western Hemisphere Championship were held in a fresher southeast wind around 15-18kn, perfect conditions for the physically strong 25-year-old Finn crack Jorge Zarif BRA with Guilherme De Almeida BRA winning both heats and climbing on the podium with Bronze. With a perfect final down wind in the last race moving up from 8th to 4th, Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA defended their overall lead ahead of Paul Cayard/Arthur Lopes USA finishing 2nd with a 3 points backlog. Christoph and Tina Gautschi SUI sailed their best results (20/15) and ended on rank 27 overall.

 Nacra 15 - United 4 Sailing - Medemblik NED - Final results, the Swiss 14 Youth Classes participated in the 'United 4 sailing' regatta on the Ijssel-Meer over the past weekend. In most classes, sailors from the Netherlands and Belgium were on the entry lists. Only in the Nacra 15, Swiss teams were among the starters with good results.
Arnaud Grange/Marie Van der Klink SUI won the final two races yesterday and climbed on top of the rankings ahead of Swadling/ Fatcher GBR at equal points. The 2017 Youth Worldchampions Max Wallenberg/Amanda Björk SUI however had their worst day and descended on rank 7 overall.

 Laser - Euro Master Series 2018 - Act 2 - Calella ESP - Final results, the Swiss The 130 Laser Masters had bad luck with their second Act of the 2018 Euromaster Series at the Costa Brava. After the opening day without wind and the two races in pouring rain of Saturday, the Sunday was again without wind. Herewith, the ranking lists with two races only becomes final.
In the Radials, Monica Azon ESP ist first ahead of Pep Campi ESP. Jacques Perret SUI follows on rank 28 among the 43 participants.
Spanish is the winner in the Lasers Standard with Antoni Roig ESP. Carlos Martinez ESP and Jordi Capella ESP follow on the ranks 2 and 3. Markus Ochs SUI as best Swiss is on the 20th position in the 46 boats' fleet.

 Optimist - Annual Points' Championship 2018 - YC Bielersee - Final results After the windless Saturday, a very light wind filled in yesterday allowing to complete just one race.
Luis Zimmerli SCC and Giovanni Masiero CVLL were the winners in their Groups. Marie Mazuay CNV as best girl and Ludovico Cornaro CVLL finished on 2nd in their Groups. 124 Optimist sailors participated.

 Finn, Yngling - Capman-Cup - RC Oberhofen - Final results After the four races of Saturday, the wind was absent yesterday on Lake Thoune.
Chritsoph Burger TYC finished first in the Finns ahead of Carlo Lazzari TYC and Peter Kilchenmann TYC. 18 Finn sailors from 3 nations participated. The ranking list and the report of the Finn Class.
In the 15-boat Yngling fleet, Patrick Haag/Gianni de Nardis/Stefan Boeni SCRG had the upper hand on the local Thomas Beck/Stephan Speiser/Michael Schoedon TYC and Peter Müller/Roman Burkhard/Dieter Kuhn YCZ completing the podium.

Laser Radial - European Youth Championship 2018 - Balatonföldvar HUN - Final results, the Swiss

No wind on the final day of the Laser Radial Youth European Championship on Lake Balaton and Matilda Talluri ITA and Guido Gallinaro ITA were proclaimed European Youth Champions 2018.
In the Girls Silver behind Talluri ITA went also to Italy with Federica Catterazzi ITA 4 points ahead of Valerya Lomatschenko RUS. Olivia Habegger SUI finished as 43rd, as two premature starts were too much for a good overall result.
Guido Gallinaro ITA terminated the Boys Championship with a considerable advantage on Marcelo Cairo ESP. Bronze went to Campbell Patton BER. Félix Baudet SUI and Jacopo Scornaienghi SUI finished on the good 12th and 13th place. With Nicholas Davies as 33rd, Gauthier Verhulst SUI as 40th as well as Erwan Lamoureux SUI, Arno Hunziker SUI and Julien Delbeke SUI, 5 more Swiss sailed in the Goldfleet.

The Laser 4.7 Youth European Championship in Greece was concluded yesterday.
In the Girls, Giorgia Cingolani ITA climbed on rank one in the last race ahead of Eline Verstraelen BEL at equal points with Silver. Ursula Balas CRO dropped on rank 3. Rosine Baudet SUI finished 35th, Farah Imbert SUI, the second Swiss in the Goldfleet, followed on rank 50.
In the Boys, the title went to Cesare Barabino ITA. Emilios Monos GRE and Dikaios Kerkoulas GRE grasped Silver and Bronze. Joshua Richner SUI finished on the good 13th place. Antonis Asonitis SUI, the second Swiss in the Goldfleet, followed on rank 49.

Sun and a 10-14kn seabreeze made race on Biscayne Bay again perfect. The two races of the day did not change the overall rankings. Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA start to the final races today with a 4 points' lead on Paul Cayard/Arthur Lopez USA. Augie Diaz USA/Bruno Prada BRA are new on rank 3. Laser - Euro Master Series 2018 - Act 2 - Calella ESP - Day 2, the Swiss

Bad weather on the second day of the Laser Euromasters at the Costa Brava ESP as well. However, there was enough wind for two races.
First in the Radials was Monica Azon ESP winning both heats. Pep Campi ESP and David Mateu ESP followed on the ranks 2 and 3. Jacques Perret SUI is on the 22nd place. Over a third of the fleet did not compete because of the pouring rain.
In the Lasers Standard, Antoni Roig ESP and Carlos Martinez ESP share the lead at equal points. On rank 3 follows Jordi Capella ESP. The best Swiss Markus Ochs SUI is on the 20th position.

Three races were held yesterday in San Remo where good sailing conditions prevailewd. Already on day one of Winter Series final event was successful with two races completed.

Swiss Sailing Super League - Act 1 - Locarno - Day 2

 Swiss Sailing Super League - Act 1 - Locarno - Day 2 After the windless opening day, the Lago Maggiore thermal breeze filled in yesterday afternoon around 2 pm CET and 14 races were completed in an 8 to 12kn wind. All 12 team have now the same number of races completed and as expected, the leading teams of the previous year are again in the lead.
With 5 wins in 7 races, the SV Kreuzlingen with Tom Rüegge is 4 points ahead of the SN Geneva with Guillaume Girod. On rank 3 follows the RV Bodensee with Julian Flessati. For the first time since long, the two-times Olympian (and 420 World Champion) Jodok Wicki is participating in a regatta on Swiss waters. But his Zürcher YC Team is no yet up to speed.

 Finn, Yngling - Capman-Cup - RC Oberhofen - Day 1 Good conditions prevailed on Lake Thoune at the opening of the 2018 Capman-Cup, and both classes completed 4 races each.
In the Finns, Christoph Burger TYC is in the lead ahead of Carlo Lazzari TYC. 18 participants from 3 nations.
With 15 teams, the Ynglings have a good attendance as well. Patrick Haag SCH and his team is first ahead of Thomas Beck TYC and Peter Müller YCZ.

 Laser Radial - Youth European Championship 2018 - Balatonföldvar HUN - Day 5, the Swiss Day 5 of the Laser Radial Youth Europeans on Lake Balaton and for the first time a fresher 15-18kn wind prevailed. After a long 8-hour-day and 20 general recall, the Boys had 3, the Girls 2 races more on their score sheet.
Guido Gallinaro ITA defended his first place in the Boys' rankings with an 11 points' lead on Marcelo Cairo ESP best of the day with the ranks 2/5/3. On rank 3 follows now Campbell Patton BER. Félix Baudet SUI is on rank 12, Jacopo Scornaienghi SUI - with a 4th place in the Goldfleet - is just behind on the 13th position.
In the Girls, Matilda Talluri ITA as best of the day has taken rank 1 ahead of Federica Cattarozzi ITA on 2nd. Valerya Lomatchenko RUS moved up on the 3rd place thanks to a race win. A premature start relegated Olivia Habegger SUI on rank 43.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth European Championship 2018 - Patras GRE - Day 5, the Swiss The Final Series at the 4.7 Laser Youth Europeans continued yesterday with one race for the Boys and two races for the Girls.
Despite of his worst race - fortunately discarded - Cesare Barabino ITA extended his lead in the Boys on 10 points. Emilios Monos GRE and Dikaios Kerkoulas GRE are the first persuers. Joshua Richner SUI defended the 13th place. Antonis Asonitis SUI, the second Swiss in the Goldfleet, follows on rank 49.
In the Girls, Ursula Balas CRO reclaimed the first place 4 points ahead of Giorgia Cingolani ITA on rank 2. Eline Verstraelen BEL remains on the 3rd position. Penalized with a second premature start disqualification, Rosine Baudet SUI dropped on rank 40 overall.

 Star - Western Hemisphere Championship 2018 - Key Biscayne FL, USA - Day 2, the Swiss Lighter winds as on the opening day - 8-12kn - prevailed yesterday at the Western Hemisphere Championship on Biscyane Bay and the planned two races were held, again with Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA as best of the day with the ranks 3 and 1, extending their lead on 8 points. New on rank 2 are Paul Cayard/Arthur Lopes USA. On rank 3 follows the Finn crack Jorge Zarif BRA (with Guilherme De Almeida BRA) in his second participation in the Starclass. Christoph Gautschi/Tina Gautschi SUI descended on rank 30.

Star - 2018 Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship, Miami FL, Day 1, the Swiss

 Star - 2018 Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship, Miami FL, Day 1, the Swiss The 2018 Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship, one of five Silver Star events of the Class, kicked off yesterday on Biscayne Bay. On a sunny day, the 37 Starboats from 9 nations completed two races with a great easterly breeze from 15 to 18 knots, both won by Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA. In the cumulative results , Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA are first ahead of Jorge Zarif/Guilherme De Almeida BRA and at some distance PeerVessella/Phil Trinter USA.  Laser Radial - Youth European Championship 2018 - Balatonföldvar HUN - Day 4, the Swiss Light but steady winds allowed to complete three races par fleet on the fourth day of the Laser Radial Youth Europeans.
The Boys' fleet, split in two Groups, has herewith concluded the Qualification Seriesn for the Gold- and Silverfleets. Guido Gallinaro ITA has taken the lead 4 points ahead of Andrea Crisi ITA. Kirill Tereshkin RUS is new on rank 3. Among the best of the day was also Félix Baudet SUI, who advanced on rank 5 overall. Qualified for the Goldfleet are also Jacopo Scornaienghi SUI (16th), Gauthier Verhulst SUI 30th), Nicholas Davies SUI (32nd), Julien Delbeke SUI (55th), Arno Hunziker SUI (65th) and Erwan Lamoureux SUI (71st).
Annabelle Westerhof NED is now 9 points ahead of Karmen Perkovic CRO in the Girls fleet. New on rank 3 is now Marcelina Korszon POL, leading also in the U17 rankings. Olivia Habegger SUI, the only Swiss, moved up on rank 35.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth European Championship 2018 - Patras GRE - Day 4 The Boys 4.7 Gold- and Silverfleets sailed the first two Final Series races in Patras yesterday. Finishing on the ranks 1 and 2, Cesare Barabino ITA has taken the lead 3 points ahead of Emilios Monos GRE. Dikaios Kerkoulas GRE on 3rd is already 12 points back. The best Swiss Joshua Richner SUI is on the 14th place. Antonis Adonitis SUI on the 58th rank is also sailing in the Goldfleet.
Close up in the Girls fleet with Giorgia Cingolani ITA, Mare Mili CRO and Eline Verstraelen BEL at equal points on top. Rosine Baudet SUI on 27th and Farah Imbert SUI as 50th are sailing in the Goldfleet as well.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth European Championship 2018 - Patras GRE - Day 3, the Swiss The seabreeze filled in late in the day only at Patras GRE, and only the Girls could sail one race.
Winning the heat, Giorgia Cingholani ITA climbed on top overall leading together with Mare Mili CRO at equal points. One point behind and tied as well follow Eline Verstraelen BEL and Ursula Balas CRO. Rosine Baudet SUI departed prematurely and dropped on rank 27 overall. The Girls results.
No change in the rankings of the Boys obviously: Leader after 3 races is Emmanouil Kollos GRE ahead of Emilios Monos GRE and Cesare Barabino ITA. Joshua Richner SUI on rank 19 is the best Swiss. The Boys results have not been posted on the event website this morning, without comments.

 Laser Radial - Youth European Championship 2018 - Balatonföldvar HUN - Day 1, the Swiss An excellent thermal breeze prevailed on Lake Balaton on the first day of the Laser Radial Youth European Championship, and both fleets could complete two races each. The 154 Boys sail in two Groups, the 53 Girls are in one fleet.
Andrea Crisi ITA, day ranks 1 and 3, has taken the lead one point ahead of Guido Gallinaro ITA. Félix Baudet SUI (rank 9) and Julien Delbeke SUI (rank 11) had a good first day.
In the Girls, the clear leader is Annabelle Westerhof NED already 7 points in front of Karmen Perkovic CRO and Federica Cattarozzi ITA at equal points on rank 2. Olivia Habegger SUI is 37the among the 53 participants.

Laser 4.7 - Youth European Championship 2018 - Patras GRE - Day 1

 Laser 4.7 - Youth European Championship 2018 - Patras GRE - Day 1 Twlo race were held on day one of the Laser-4.7 Youth European Championship in Greece and both fleets completed 2 races.
The Boys fleet is split in three Groups and the Greece team has taken the first three places overall. Emmanouil Kollias GRE won both heats of his Group and leads one point ahead of Dikaios Kerkoulas GRE. The best Swiss is the past Optimist World Champion Nicolas Rolaz SUI on rank 16 among the 200 participants.
Mare Mili CRO won the two races of her Group in the Girls fleet, split in two Groups. Ursula Balas CRO and Eline Verstraelen NED are the first challengers. Rosine Baudet SUI follows on rank 14, Farah Imbert SUI ist 46th in the 104 participants' fleet.

 J/70 - Cup 2018 - San Remo ITA - Final results, the Swiss The stormy Eastwind all over the Riviera and Cote d'Azur during these days inhibited sailracing yesterday at the San Remo J/70-Cup. The days before since last Friday, 5 races have been completed in light to moderate winds.
Alberto Rossi ITA (tactics Branko Brcin SLO) and his team finished first ahead of Gianfranco Noe ITA and Claudia Rossi ITA. 420, 470 - Points' Championship - CV Lago di Lugano

 420, 470 - Points' Championship - CV Lago di Lugano Two races were held on the second day of the 420/470 event on Lake Lugano.
Philippe Erni/Stefan Zurfluh SCC defended their lead in the 470s ahead of Marc Ninck/Lorenz Ninck TYC on 2nd and Alexa and Mara Bezel SVT on 3rd among the 12 teams.
The outcome in the 420s was close as three teams were at equal points after 4 races. Overall winner were Simon and Niklas Kaiser SCStä with the tie broken thanks to winning the last race. Solène Mariani/Maud Schmid CNM and Simona Hegi/Sarina Böhler SVT followed on the ranks 2 and 3. 21 teams participated.

RS Feva - 2018 World Championship, Clearwater FL, final day, the Swiss

The wind was a no-show on the fifth and final day of the 2018 RS Feva World Championship in Clearwater FL and there was therefore no change on top of the rankings after 13 races sailed as. Ben Hutton-Penman/Abi Jayasekara (GBR) finished first six points ahead of om Storey/Rupert Jameson (GBR). The first USA team with Dieter Creitz/Conrad Miller (USA) remained on third. Finishing eighth overall and winning the ladies title was Annie Hammett/Emma Wells (GBR). Brent and Robbe Verhoest SUI are on the 21st place. Racing was held from April 4 to 8.

 A new project of Yvan Bourgnon SUI - a TV interview of RT Suisse Romande Yesterday evening, an extensive interview with the Swiss adventurer Yvan Bourgnon was aired by RT Suisse Romande. After his North-West Passage last year, he wants to engage himself in an ecological project for cleaner oceans. With a fleet of special catamarans, drifting plastic on the seas shall be collected.

 Classe ACVL - Challenge d'Hiver 17/18 - Final results On Sunday, the 2017/18 Winter Championship of the CV Vidy / Lake Geneva was concluded with the last race. Winner after 6 races was Eric Meyer CVV with his Esse 850 in the Lestés A rankings. Jean-Luc Desgraz CVL and Marc Bourquin CVL completed the podium. In the Lestés B rankings, the smaller yachts, the Surprise 'école de voile Cust4' of the CVL finished first. Frédéric Pfyffer CNP and Frédéric Lablanquie CVL followed on the ranks 2 and 3.

Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia -Palma ESP - Final results - Bronze for Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia -Palma ESP - Final results - Bronze for Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI Four Swiss teams - an excellent performance - participated in the Trofeo Princesa Sofia Medal Races yesterday with Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI in the 470 women as 4th, aiming for a medal. Finishing 2nd in the Medal Race, they succeeded and grasped Bronze at the end of the day. Nils Theuninck SUI, sailing amidst the World's top Finn sailors during the week, had not his best day finishing 9th, and descending on rank 8 overall, his best-ever result in his young career. For the first time since years, Switzerland has again a chance to qualify for the Olympics in the Finn Class. With a solid performance and a rank 4 in the last race, Sébastien Schneiter/Lucien Cujean SUI finished on the 8th place in the 49ers. Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI, regularily in the Medal Races of the RS:X windsurfers, finished on the 10th position.

No change on top of the rankings after 13 races sailed. Ben Hutton-Penman/Abi Jayasekara GBR are in pole position for the last race today at the RS Feva Worlds in Clearwater as Tom Storey/Rupert Jameson GBR on the second place are already 6 points behind. Out of the fight for the title are the former leaders Dieter Creitz/Conrad Miller USA with 36 points' backlog on the leaders. Brent and Hobbe Verhoest SUI are on rank 21 among the 51 participants.

 420, 470 - Annual Points' Championship - CV Lago di Lugano - Day 1 Sun and good thermal breeze conditions prevailed yesterday during the first races of the 420/470 Swiss 2018 regatta circuit on Lake Lugano.
Philippe Erni/Stephan Zurfluh SCC won both races of the day in the 470 ahead of Marc Ninck/Lorenz Ninck TYC on 2nd and Alexa und Mara Bezel SVT on 3rd among the 12 teams.
The event website does not yet contain the 420 ranking list this morning.
Local fleets started in the Optimists with Emily Manship CVLL winning both races, and in the Open Classes (Derive rankings) with Marco Giraldi CVLL on this 5o5 winning twice.
