Olympic Worldcup 2012 Semaine Olympique Française Hyeres FRA Day 3
The wind increased - as predicted - to over 30 kn during the day, but thanks to early morning starts, most of the classes could terminate the qualifiers. 470s, Lasers (Standard & Radial), Windsurfers and 49ers sail in Gold- and Silverfleets as from today. Obviously, the big-breeze specialists had the upperhand up to now: Piotr Myszka POL leads in the RS:X-Windsurfers one point ahead of Julien Bontemps FRA, Maja Dziarnowska POL is first in the RS:X-females with a 12 points lead on Olga Maslivets UKR and Charline Picon FRA. Morrison/Rhodes GBR have passed the French 49ers and have now a close advantage on Dyen/Christidis FRA and D'Ortoli/Delpech FRA. With the discard in effect, Matthew Belcher/Malcom Page AUS have a clear lead in the 470-men in front of Fantela/Marencic CRO and Coster/Coster NED. Extending their lead in the 470 women were Lisa Westerhof/Lobke Berkhout NED with Kondo/Tabata JPN and Clark/Lihan USA still on the ranks 2 and 3. No changes also in the Starboats where Clarke/Björn CAN hold the top position in front of Percy/Simpson GBR and Rohart/Ponsot FRA. Anna Tunnicliffe USA remains undefeated in the Women Match Race, leading 8-0 ahead of Sally Barkow USA (8-1) and Ekaterina Skudina RUS (7-2). Today is the last day of the Round Robin. The only class not sailing were the Finns, where Deniss Karpak EST has a clear lead with 3 wins in 4 races. All results, the daily report and the videos.
