The undefeated streak lasted to the end for Team USA/San Diego Yacht Club at the Italiana Challenge Cup match race for juniors in Rapallo ITA. First order of the day for skipper Nevin Snow and his intrepid crew of Jake LaDow, Max Hutcheson and Jake Reynolds was beating the Brits, which they already had defeated in the round robin match. They did so again with 2-0, but this time only by inches in the second and decisive match to secure the title of the best foreign team. Then they moved on to the “second final” where they faced the top-ranked Italian team for the Italiana Challenge Cup. The Italians sailed aggressively and looked like they had better speed, but the US team had superior boat and sail handling, which carried them to another 2-0 sweep and the privilege to hoist the trophy after going undefeated throughout the event. Even the dolphins agreed and surfaced to applaud. Get the blow-by-blow on the team’s Facebook page and check out the videos.
