Mini 650 MiniTransat Las Palmas ESP Leg 2 Day 10, the Swiss
Leg two of the Mini-Transat is now in its crucial phase.
Ian Lipinski POL, superior leader in the Protos with a 150nm advantage on his first challengers has only 750nm left to the finish in Le Merin on Guadeloupe. Only a major equipment failure could cost him rank 1 at the port of destination and the overall Mini-Transat victory. New on rank 2 is now Jörg Riechers GER, whose attack on an extreme southern course was finally successful with fresher winds compared to Simon Koster SUI in the North. The Swiss on rank 3 has now a 10nm backlog.
The distances between the leading boats in the Series Mini fleet have grown as well. Erwan Le Draoulec FRA is now 55nm ahead of Clarisse Crémer FRA. Thomas Dolan FRA on 3rd is already 100nm behind. Valentin Gautier SUI, winner of leg 1, moved up on the 6th place with 55nm deficit on rank 3.
