Stormy start to the Trofeo Princesa Sofia: The first World Cup of the year began yesterday o Palma Bay in a 25-knot breeze with peaks of over 30 knots and big waves. Only 5 of the 10 classes were competing ----- Malte and Anastassia Winkel GER took the lead in the 470 with 1st and 2nd place ahead of Vita Heathcoat/Chris Grube GBR. Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP followed in 3rd place. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI occupy the 19th place out of 62 teams. ----- In ILCA 6, Emma Plaschaert BEL won both races in her group, Hannah Andersohn GER follows 2 points behind, and Chiara Benini ITA is 3rd. Maud Jayet SUI is 16th (12/6), Anja Von Allmen SUI 32nd, and Rosine Baudet SUI 55th, also in the top half of the ranking list of 116 participants. ----- In the ILCA 7, Philipp Buhl GER won both races in his group. One point behind him, Michael Beckett GBR and Hermann Tomasgaard NOR share 2nd place. Gauthier Verhulst SUI is 76th, Martin Verhulst SUI is 89th of the 193 participants. ----- The Formula Kiters finished 3 races. ----- Bruno Lobo BRA leads one point ahead of Max Maeder SGP. Valentin Bontus AUT follows in 3rd place. Two races were held for the female Kiters: Daniela Moroz USA won twice, Briana Whitehead AUS and Jingyue Chen CHN share 2nd place with equal points. ----- All rankings and the report.
