Hansa 303, Liberty - European Championship 2017 - Mèze FRA - Final results

 Hansa 303, Liberty - European Championship 2017 - Mèze FRA - Final results Very light conditions prevailed also on the last day of the Disabled-Sailing European Championship in Mèze FRA but nevertheless, three of the four Classes could sail another race. Together with the discards in effect, some position changes have to be noted.
The Hansa 303 Mono did not sail. Piotr Chichoki POL is first after 4 races ahead of Simon Berthelot FRA and Cécile Venuat FRA. Willi Lutz SUI finished 9th, Claudia Schmid SUI followed on rank 11 among the 39 participants. In the Hansa 303 Double, Ange Margaron/Raphael Bisieux FRA won the title ahead of Cécile Venuat/Céline Desmat FRA and Olivier Ducruix/Gilles Guyon FRA. With a 2nd race rank, Patrick Maurer/Christian Hiller SUI advanced on rank 4 overall missing the podium by 7 pts. In the Liberty Class, Bob Schahinger AUS and Vera Voorbach NED are tied on top, but with more race wins, the Australian takes the title. Among the only 5 Hansa 2.3, Andre Bento POR is first.

 Hansa 303, Liberty - European Championship 2017 - Mèze FRA - Day 4 Light winds delayed again the program at the Disabled Sailing Europeans in Mèze FRA, and only the Liberty and the Hansa 303 Double succeeded to complete a race.
In the Hansa 303, Ange Margaron/Raphael Bisieux FRA remain on top. Bob Schahinger AUS is still first in the Liberty, but Vera Voorbach NED reduced her backlog on one points.

 Hansa 303, Liberty - European Championship 2017 - Mèze FRA - Day 4, the Swiss Light winds delayed again the program at the Disabled Sailing Europeans in Mèze FRA, and only the Liberty and the Hansa 303 Double succeeded to complete a race.
In the Hansa 303, Ange Margaron/Raphael Bisieux FRA remain on top. Patrick Maurer/Christian Hiller SUI moved up on the 8th place after the discard of their premature start disqualification in race 1. Bob Schahinger AUS is still first in the Liberty, but Vera Voorbach NED reduced her backlog on one points.

Only the Liberty's and the Hansa 303 Mono completed a race in an up to 5 kn breeze. The Hansa 303 Double and the Hansa 217 waited in vain for wind.
In the Liberty, the winner was again Bob Schahinger AUS who leads now 2 points ahead of Vera Voorbach NED. First in the Hansa 303 Mono was Simon Berthelot FRA, reducing the backlog on the leader Piotr Cichocki POL to 2 points.

 Around-the-world record - François Gabart FRA on standby Since Sunday, the Vendée-Globe-winner François Gabart FRA has been on standby in Port-la-Forêt to wait for a optimal winds to start his solo round-the-world record attempt. The valid current record is 49 days and 3 hours, established last year by Thomas Coville FRA. At present, there is no adequate weather window showing up.

 2.4m, Hansa 303 - Paralympic World Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Final results The Paralympic Classes World Championship was concluded in Kiel on Sunday. Three more races were held in a 15-18 kn wind.
The situation in the 2.4m before the last race was more than exciting: The frist three boats were separated by 2 points only. Heiko Kröger GER controlled the nerves on his home waters grasping his second World Champions' title. Matt Bugg AUS and Damien Séguin FRA followed on the ranks 2 and 3.
Violeta del Reino ESP won the title in the Hansa 303 women, and Piotr Cichocki POL is World Champion in the Hansa 303 men.

In the 2.4m, Heiko Kröger GER moved on top thanks to 2 race wins. Only one point behind follows Matthew Bugg AUS on 2nd, Damien Séguin FRA on rank 3 has another point's backlog.
In the Hansa 303 women, Violeta del Reino Diez de Valle is first, in the Hansa 303 men, Piotr Chichocki POL replaced Christopher Symonds AUS on top.

Damien Séguin FRA defended his lead in the 2.4m. Antonio Squizzato ITA as best of the day (ranks 1 and 2) advanced on rank 2. Matthew Bugg AUS remains on rank 3.
In the Hansa 303 women, Violeta del Reino ESP is new on top at equal points with Magali Moraine FRA on rank 2.
Christopher Symonds AUS remains on top of the Hansa 303 men. Piotr Cichocki POL advanced on rank 2 thanks to a race win.

 2.4m, Hansa 303 - Paralympic World Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 1 The Disabled-Sailing Classes World Championship (on 2.4mIJ and Hansa 303) began yesterday with two races.  International Classes, 2.4 mIJ - Kiel Week - Kiel GER - Final results The International Classes concluded the 2017 Kiel Week yesterday with more light-wind races. We reported during the past days.
Here in addition the results of the 2.4m IJ yachts with Heiko Kröger GER as clear winner 13 points ahead of Dee Smith USA. Daniel Bina CZE was 3rd. 28 boats from 13 nations and 3 continents participated in this tune-up race to the World Championship at the same venue.

Paralympic Sailing - World Sailing plans a comeback as Paralympic sport

 Paralympic Sailing - World Sailing plans a comeback as Paralympic sport Eliminated as Paralympic Sport in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games with the argument as not distributed globally, World Sailing has started an action plan to relaunch Paralympic Sailing for the 2024 Games.
