Olympic Classes - Kiel Week - Kiel GER - Final results
Monday, June 26, 2017
The Kiel Week 2017 was concluded yesterday with the Medal Races sailed in quite a fresh breeze.
The dominating Olympic medalists Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS finished the Medal Race in the 470 men as first and left the 2nd-ranked Pawel Sozykin/Denis Gribanov RUS 20 points behind in the overall results. With a second rank in the 470 women Medal Race, Frederike Loewe/Anna Markfort GER replaced Agnieszka Skrzypulec/Irmina Mrozek POL on rank 1.
David Gilmour/Joel Turner AUS were the premature winner in the 49ers before the last race. Silver and Bronze went to Przybytek/Kolodzinski POL and Will Philipps/Sam Philipps AUS. In the 49erFX, the leading Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR won the Medal Race as well and were the undisputed overall winners of the Week. Alexandra Moloney/Molly Meech NZL remained on the 2nd place.
In the Finns, Anders Petersen NOR, winning the Medal Race, almost was the surprise of the day, as he was only 2 points short of replacing Deniss Karpak EST on top of the overall rankings. Winning the Medal Race, Thomas Zajac/Barbara Matz AUT made everything clear in the Nacra 17. Jan-Hauke Erichsen/Annn-Kristin Wedemeier GER remained on the 2nd rank with a 10 points' backlog.
