Olympic Classes - Kiel Week 2025

Yesterday, Tuesday, was all about warming up for the hot finale of Kiel Week, despite harsh weather conditions with stormy gusts and heavy rain showers. While the top athletes positioned themselves for medals, others were happy to have made the cut for the top ten to participate in the medal races. A total of 23 nations are represented in the Olympic class finals today, Wednesday. ----- In the ILCA-7 Men, Lorenzo Brando Chiavarini ITA extended his lead over his closest rival Dimitri Peroni ITA to 12 points ahead of the Medal Race. Finn Lynch IRL, 18 points behind second place, leads a quartet battling for bronze. Gauthier Verhulst CNP/GYC finished the week in 26th place out of 148 participants. ----- In the ILCA-6 Women class, the situation at the top has become clearer, with Anna Munch DEN 11 points ahead of Emma Plaesschaert BEL and 16 points ahead of Maxime van de Werken-Jonker NED, both new to the top 3. Anja Von Allmen SUI/GYC is 17th and Rosine Baudet SUI/SNG 24th. ---- - There are new names in the 49er Men's Skiffs with Erwan Fischer/Clément Péqin FRA 3 points ahead of Hernan Umpierre/Fernando Diz URU, and another 3 points ahead of Jakob Meggendorfer/Andreas Spranger GER. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI/TYC are 18th, Theo Elbel/Itay Geller SVT are 65th. ----- Change of leader in the 49er Women's Skiffs, where Sophie Steinlein/Catherine Bartelheimer GER are now 7 points ahead of Marla Bergmann/Hanna Wille GER. Freya Black/Saskia Tidey GBR are another 3 points behind. The Swiss women are 29th Malena Rüegge/Liv Wicki SVKr, 36th Simon Mille/Samuel Berther CVE and 43rd Sophie Studer/Shana Burger RCO. ---- - In the iQFOiLs Men, Fabian Wolf GER leads by 7 points ahead of Tomasz Romanowski POL. The only Swiss competitor, Nino Livio Lofterod DRCS, is in 31st place. ----- In the iQFOiLs Women, Marion Couturier FRA leads ahead of Sophia Meyer GER.
