Laser Radial - the Olympic Champion Lijia Xu CHN is back - a video portrait
Thursday, March 10, 2016
After the London/Weymouth 2012 Gold Medal, the double Olympic Champion Lijia Xu CHN retired from competitive racing because of back and knee problems. But she could not resist the appeal of Olympic sailing and last year, she decided to start a campaign for Rio 2016 and she was again amongst the best right from the beginning. As most athletes, she began on the Optimist, where she was World Champion twice. At the forthcoming Rio Games, she is again one of the favorites. Her Wikipedia profile tells about the many health that impeded her sailing career. Among other, she missed the Athens Olympics because of a bone-cancer surgery. Lijia Xu CHN speaks about her ambitions for Rio in a video interview.
