Optimist, 420, 29er, Laser Radial & 4.7 - Dutch Youth Regatta - Workum NED - Day 3, the Swiss
Sunday, May 8, 2016
Four Final Series races were sailed in the Gold- and Silverfleets yesterday at the Dutch Youth Regatta in Workum.
It was the day of General Recalls in the Optimist fleets, and finally 67 (!) participants had a Blackflag disqualification on their results sheet. The leading Richard Schultheis MLT, age 11, finished in three races on rank 2, but with an abandoned race, he was replaced on rank 1 by Max Wallenberg SUI. But at the end of the Finals today, the second discard will be activated and it might well be, that the Maltese reclaims the overall lead. On the ranks 2 and 3 behind Wallenberg are Adrian Surroca GER and Antonia Schultheis MLT. The next-best Swiss are Maxime Thommen SUI and Arnaud Grange SUI on the ranks 24 and 25.
The advantage of Gwendal Nael/Lilian Mercier FRA in the 29ers is now 29 points on their closest persuers Alexander Gronblom/Martin Mikkola FIN. Kaifun Shen/Thomas Lapère SUI are 29th. Dominating the Lasers 4.7 is Emma Savelon NED with now 20 points on Leila Van der Meer NED. Matthew Keller SUI is 8th among the 42 participants. New on top of the Lasers Radial is Olin Houtman NED, but Erik-Jan Westerhof NED on rank 2 is only one point behind. Arthur Baudet SUI follows on the 6th position as best non-Dutch.
