IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 81 Alan Roura SUI
Never before has the finish of a Vendée Globe been so exciting! Charlie Dalin FRA (Apivia) was the first to cross the finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne last night. Only 4 hours later, Louis Burton FRA (Bureau Vallée 2) arrived at the finish. Seven hours later early this morning UTC, Yannick Bestaven FRA (Maître Coq) terminated the race, and thanks to the time credit of 10hrs 15min for his help in the rescue of Kevin Escoffier FRA (PRB), it was enough for the overall win! Thomas Ruyant FRA (LinkedOut) finished in fourth place this morning. Bad luck for Boris Herrmann GER (Sea-Explorer): Sailing in 3rd place, he collided with a fishing vessel damaging his Open 60, and now progressing at reduced speed, he will lose some places, despite a 6-hour bonus of the Escoffier rescue. The video. Damien Seguin FRA (Groupe Apicil) will arrive in Les Sables this afternoon in 5th or 6th position as the first Non-Foiler. Jean Le Cam FRA (Yes we Cam) sailing 140 miles behind will still advance: he has a time bonus of 16 hours and will move up a few ranks. ----- Alan Roura SUI still has 3144 miles to go to the finish, he passed the Equator in 16th place tonight.
