The 2024 sailing super year begins on Sunday with the first races of the Olympic Games. The first pre-regattas of the America's Cup will start in Barcelona in just one month's time and then the Vendée Globe will take us around the globe in November. Last year, the Lake Thun Sailing School (SST) added practical and theoretical offshore trainings to its course program. This season, ocean-type trainings are offered on the wind-safe Lake Thun as well. The SST uses Archambault A40 yachts for harbour manoeuvre training. Skippers as well as entire crews can get fit for the charter season while still in Switzerland. "After two days of intensive manoeuvre training in the narrow harbours on Lake Thun, the harbour manoeuvres on the holiday cruise should no longer be a problem", says SST managing director Simon Brügger. The manoeuvre courses can also be booked as a package with SST's mileage and training cruises on seas. Aspiring ocean skippers can complete their entire ocean training at the Lake Thun Sailing School. The conflict between the original manufacturer Laser Performance and the Laser Class ILCA has led to a split of the Class into Lasers' and ILCAs', and herewith also a change of the Swiss distributor. The ILCA boats and equipment will now be available from Duvoisin Nautique at Lake Neuchâtel.

At the Annual General Assembly of sailcom.ch held virtually, an overwhelming majority of SailCom cooperative members voted in favor of a sustainable capital increase to finance the renewal of the boat sharing fleet, based on a new fleet strategy. The initial step has been made already with the first of the 12 ordered J70 sports boats to be delivered these days.
