49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - 2025 European Championships - Thessaloniki GRE - Final Results

A major surprise happened in the Nacra 17 medal race, where Gianluigi Ugolini/Maria Giubilei ITA and Mateo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG battled for second, with John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBR securing Gold with two races to spare. However, when both Italy and Argentina were over early and had to restart, it opened up a narrow chance for Tim Mourniac/Aloise Retornaz FRA. If they won the medal race and the Argentinians finished last, they would win the Bronze. ----- In a very light and long race, the French moved into a lead, while the Argentinians languished at the back of the pack. It was only over the final two gybes that Mateo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG lost Bronze in favor of Tim Mourniac/Aloise Retornaz FRA. The Nacra 17 results----- In the 49ersFX, entering the day virtually tied for the win, Georgia and Antonia Lewin Lafrance CAN outdueled Aleksandra Melzacka/Sandra Jankowiak POL and Marla Bergmann/Hanna Wille GER. The day began with a fleet race in the morning and then the medal race in the afternoon. The Canadians won both, stretching their two-point lead to start the day into a ten-point victory over Marla Bergmann/Hannah Wille GER and Aleksandra Melzacka/Sandra Jankowiak POL. The 49erFX results. ----- Behind the early 49er winners Seb Menzies/George Lee Rush NZL, the medal race had many more teams in contention for the other medals than the other two fleets. Nevin Snow/Ian Macdiarmid USA seized the opportunity, jumping up from fourth to win silver. Hernan Umpierre/Fernando Diz URU finally secured the bronze medal.
