The favorable wind conditions continued on day two of the Vendée Globe and will persist in the next days. The fleet is heading South at high speeds, just about to leave the European waters off Portugal's South coast behind this morning.
Armel Le Cléac'h FRA ('Banque Populaire') keeps the first position 13 nm ahead of Vincent Riou FRA ('PRB') new on ranks 2, who is astoningly fast with his non-foil Open60. The fastest with a 22 kn speed is Alex Thompson GBR ('Hugo Boss') who was the first to gibe touching a fresher breeze along the Portuguese coast. For the moment, the detour dropped him on rank 7.
