A major change occurred in the wind scheme on Palma Bay yesterday after the first 2 light-wind days, as a fresh breeze around 18kn filled in. In most classes, the ranking lists changed considerably.
Only in the 470 men, the leaders Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS were as strong as in the days before and won both final heats of the day. At equal points, but with a massive 19 points backlog followed Okada/Hokazano JPN and Diesch/Autenrieth GER on the ranks 2 and 3. In the 470 women, Camille Lecointre/Aloïse Retornaz FRA, strongly coming back after a one-year break, won both heats and lead now 2 points ahead of Mills/McIntyre GBR and also Kondo/Yoshioka JPN are not far back.
The 49ers completefd already 9 races. Fletcher/Bithell GBR defended their first place ahead of Prszybytek/Kolodzsinski POL and Lange/Lange ARG. Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED won 2 of the 3 final races in the 49erFX and extended their lead on Nielsen/Thusgaard DEN and Hansen/Salskov DEN to 18 points.
In the Finns, the favorite Giles Scott GBR took the lead with a huge 20 points' advantage on Tappio Nirkko FIN and Alessio Spadoni ITA. In the Nacra-17, Ruggero Tita/Claudia Banti ITA started to the final series successfully with the rank 2/2/1 building up a considerable lead on Saxton/Bonifaci GBR and Lange/Carranza ARG on the ranks 2 and 3.
In the RS:X windsurfers, the big breeze specialists Louis Giard FRA and Lilian De Geus NED have taken the lead.
