Thursday, August 2, 2018
Today the combined World Championship of all Olympic classes starts in Aarhus DEN. At this event the first starting berths for the Tokyo Olympics will be awarded. The first events to feature today are th 470s with Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI and Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI and Yves Mermod/Cyril Schüpbach SUI and the Finns with Nils Theuninck SUI. The women's 470 have probably the best chances to secure an Olympic starting place early. As the world’s number 4, they were ranked among the top eught nations throughout the season. The forecasted wind conditions are moderate for the next few days which are the favorite circumstances of the two women from Thun. Kilian Wagen/Grégoire Siegwart SUI and Nils Theuninck SUI also achieved some top results during this season. They might also be able to take advantage from the moderate conditions in the coming days.
