Yesterday afternoon, the start to the first of four legs of the Solitaire du Figaro Regatta - the most important race of the French Solo National Championship - was given in in Saint Brieuc at the French Atlantic Coast. Leg 1 leads over 642nm to the Fastnet Rock off Ireland and back to Saint Brieuc in northern Brittany. In an initial 15kn decreasing wind, the fleet was still closely together this morning UTC. Xavier Macaire FRA was on the first position 0,4nm ahead of Corentin Douget FRA, with Tom Laperche FRA another 0,1nm behind. The Vendée-Globe-Winner Armel Le Cléac'h FRA is only on rank 16 among the 35 starters. ----- The race tracker, the news (in English or French) and the video of the start.
