IMOCA Open 60 - Vendée Globe 2024 - Les Sables d'Olonne FRA - Day 86

Tuesday, February 4, 2025
As many as 7 participants reached the finish line of the Vendée Globe in Les Sables d'Olonne yesterday: Three-time Paralympic medallist Damien Séguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil') was 15th, followed only 3 hours later by Benjamin Ferré FRA ('Monnoyeur'), who won the duel for the best non-foiler against Tanguy Le Turquais FRA ('Lazare') by a narrow margin of 19 minutes! A further 30 minutes behind him, Alan Roura SUI ('Hublot') finished the race in 18th place - the 31-year-old Swiss has now completed his 3rd Vendée Globe! Isabelle Joschke ('MASCF'), who was sailing the race for the second time, finished in 19th place; four years ago she had to retire with damage. For the 6th time, Jean Le Cam FRA ('Tous commence en Finisterre') took part, finishing 20th, Conrad Coleman AUS was 21st. This morning, Giancarlo Pedote ITA ('Prysmian') also crossed the finish line. Next up on Friday is Guirrec Soudée FRA sailing north of the Azores with 870 miles to go to the finish. It remains exciting in the chasing group behind: Kojiro Shiraishi JPN is just 18 miles ahead of Violette Dorange FRA. In the northerly trade winds, Oliver Heer SUI is making good progress but is badly shaken on the long upwind leg. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
